Crash Bolts!

Alrighty guys, I want to get -2.5 camber up front. What diameter crash bolts would I need? Also do I need to replace all 4 bolts up front with said size or just one on each side? Thanks!

use the smallest diameter crash bolt (12.8ish I believe) and only 1 per side. I was able to get exactly -2.5 front camber with this setup. Don't forget to torque those little puppies down (207 ft/lbs)

I also put 1 crash bolt smallest diameter on the rear but could only get -2 deg

Thanks Levi! One more question, does it matter if the crash bolt is installed in the top or bottom hole?

Put it in the top hole, there is less chance of slippage

disagree, bottom hole, less leverage on that one vs the top one.

that being said I run two smalls up front at about -3.1*

if you torque the **** out of it, as in well beyond spec just like everyone else that doesn't get slip... it won't matter

with the bottom one you might see a miniscule improvement in tire/strut clearance and track width as well, again not enough to matter much if any

So I did my alignment yesterday, I was only able to get -2 camber. All I did was loosen the knuckle bolts, replaced the bottom one with the 3dot crash bolt and pushed the strut in as far as I could as I tightened it to 200ftlbs. Was I supposed to loosen something else to get more negative camber?

I think if you just wanted -2.5 you could do a small in one hole and a medium in the other, but minuswhale get two smalls - if that doesn't do the trick you've bent/broken something important

are crash bolts the same thing as a camber kit?

well, I guess in the very generic sense of both terms yes - you use either to change the camber angles on a car.

With MR2s, you're adjusting at the strut to hub joint. A camber kit like I've seen for some CRXs and the like move the upper control arm (a part we don't have, ugh) around to change the camber angle.

Hello guys,

I know this thread is a bit old, but I am wondering if Crash bolts are available for the MK1, and if so, what is the Toyota part number?

I ordered some Toyota bolts (90105-15006) but these are for the MK2 and do not fit the MK1.

I've been searching and searching and searching everywhere for a Toyota P/N for a MK1 Crash Bolt and I can't find it. Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you in advance,
BigMike

Update on this...

I found a seller on eBay selling crash bolts for the MK1.

Here is his store: eBay My World - superautobac

Here is the auction I just ordered (link will break soon): COROLLA FX16 MR2 TERCEL CAMBER KIT 12MM: eBay Motors (item 220482529638 end time Aug-14-10 08:01:22 PDT)

They were $12 for a pair plus about $7 shipping. I'll update the thread with how they work, if they work lol

Regards,
BigMike

Hi,
Well, how do they work on Mk1 MR2?

I am running my Mk1 in ES. I think the crush bolts are legal and want to try it.

Those 3rd party eccentric bolts are not legal for stock classes, IIUC. The MKII crash bolts people use for stock classes are factory parts with smaller diameters. I think you are stuck with the stock parts for the MKI in ES.

I used those in the MKI and they were a complete PITA to install, and then to remove. They only got me from about -1.2 to -1.8, using them in conjunction with the stock camber adjusters. Since I am in CSP, I just went ahead and got the Ground Control front camber plates. Now I can get as much front camber as I need.
