Ordered the new Falcon tires today
Finally was able to talk to someone I respect (Lee Miller) about the new Falcon Azenis 615 tires. He was very enthusiastic about them,,to the point of saying that they felt better than Victoracers. But he could not comment on the new 710s, as he had not tried them yet. That was all that I needed to hear. I had been thinking about going to race rubber, but I like the idea of running on street tires in stock class. Of course, I like winning also,,,so that was part of it.
I thought I could get one more day out of the old set of Falcons and I was just barely right. A guy came without his car on Monday's autox, so he co-drove my 85. We were slidding all over (Falcons aren't very grippy at the bottom of the tread) and corded one of the tires, two others were very close also. Mondays course included an oval and it was tough to get the braking right. It just looked like we could go deeper before braking, but the tires proved us wrong. I was able to get to 65 sec. and FTD was 62 I think. I am normally 1 sec off. Only once have I been able to get FTD, but I haven't stopped trying. |

Thank you for correcting that. I guess that I have been misspelling Falken for over three years.
I went to get the tires mounted, but when I saw them, I was confused. They looked just like the old 215s. So I questioned the manager, he checked and was certain that he ordered 615s and these tires were sent, so they must be 615s. I decided to hold off getting them mounted, came home to the trusty internet and saw a pic of 615s. The manager was wrong. As you can imagine, I would have been slightly pissed if I had gotten the wrong tires. As it is now, I have just lost trust in this tire retailer. But I have gained more respect for the power of information to be found on the internet. |
