That sounds low. Most cars operate between 80 and 100 *C when sitting there idling. Climbing a hill might push them higher.

With a high-compression, high-specific-power motor like that, it very well might run a colder-than-usual thermostat setting out of the factory.

The BEAMS's water temp should be around 75 C yea!

Oh yeah and I guess as for the oil lower the better right!!

Any idea can we hook up oil coolers for ours or not much point? Only reason I ask is because i will be doing some track work!

There really is only one way to answer that question. Mount an oil temp sensor and try it out.

option 1) remote oil filter & inline cooler, best option bc our oil filters sit way low down there & can get hit by track-siding or road debris. A bunch of them on eBay on the cheap:

option 2) a steel T-connector at the oil-sending unit and run a braided-stainless steel line (teflon/kevlar inner line) to an oil-cooler (like one from a harley davidson) and place a return on your oil-pan....basically the same way you'd run the whole thing for a turbo charger

Why would your engine temp affect your Idle RPM? The fans only cool whats outside the engine and the ECU picks up the engine temp right?

Engine idle speed is quite dependant on RPM, although once warm, the idle speed shouldn't vary.

dunno mate, but i noticed if i run my fan continuously and the temp drops to something like 55C then the engine starts to idle-up, 1200 RPM-ish until its warm at around 70C again then goes back down to 850 RPM-ish hence why im wondering what i should set my flex-a-lite fan-controller at....

Well I still have my issue regarding my high idle! When the car is cold ie just started it the idle is perfect around 800 but when the car warms up or after youve driven it the car idles at around 2000! I think my issue is more then just the heat from the motor thou, its such a pain I cant find the fault drives me nuts!
