I'm interested... money wont come through for a couple of weeks thou!
Do you need the quads to run this or can it be used as a replacement till later down the track? And are you going to run into any issues with the firewall using this inlet? Last edited by WFX; 07-01-2007 at 10:50 AM.. |

dont need quads but i cant see why you'd use the plate without them. just wait to get the quads and bolt them all in one go.
how much space have you got from back of the head intake side to the firewall. post it up so glenn can check for you. that'll be the deciding factor ![]() |

Ah nuts!
Had a look at this pic: ![]() Measured the length out and the quads would sit right on my firewall with no room for ram tubes or breathing space for quads! Only way Ive thought Ive to install some quads is to get some 90 or 120 degree stainless steal bends and weld them to a laser cut plate and mount them on top that way! Glenn would you have any already made cut plates that I use to weld some pipes to? Id say Id need a plate to mount to the head and then another one id use to mount the quads, would something like this work mate? Looking at going 50mm with ram tubes, do you sell ram tubes as well Glenn or could I just use say some 20v ones? |

thats pic
that was my 1st attempt at a inlet with motec quads and that is real long .from memory about 13 inches long or 325mm long but the new inlet with quads is 135 plus 30mm for the ram tube so a total of 165mm ,which is 6.5 inches long

Does the inlet mount on any sort of angle to the head? if they were mounted on a 45 degree angle you MIGHT get away with it, would need to make a custom box to direct the air inside I would say. If they bolt on straight out, no chance of it fitting!
![]() I also noticed what looks like a adaptor plate fitted to the beams for the manifold, does this get removed before mounting inlet? Those measurements are from the end of this plate not the head itself but Id say youd only lose about 5-7mm from removing this part! ![]() |

re head
all of those parts come off and the inlet follows the angle of the hole in the head if you know what i mean and its 165 from where it bolts to the head ,the std cast inlet and rubber insulator comes off for this new inlet to bolt up

hmm your making me wonder about not going turbo and staying NA... but i measured it and it looks like on my celica the quads would fit, but they will be right up against the various brake lines etc running along the firewall, would that cause any problem, do they need a bit of clearence at there openings to work properly?.

ram tubes
you could use smaller ram tubes say about 10mm 1s ,rule of thumb about 30mm away from the fire wall and it would be ok

Had another quick look yesterday and 135mm would fit easily from the head on that angle of the ijnectors... then it would be a trial and error on getting ram tubes to fit (which 10mm might be the way) as well as perhaps some sort of air box around the whole lot and so longs you had room for the engine to move youd be sweet! Saying that its definately doable and my rad, dual fans and manifold were a tight fit so why not on the other side of the motor!
![]() Glenn is there anything else you need for this setup and how does the MOTEC connect up to tune for quads is there a sensor that comes with it? I guess what I'm asking is how many sensors do we lose from the throttle body and intake? Thanks! Last edited by WFX; 07-29-2007 at 07:45 PM.. |
