If you arrange shipping, ill talk him down a little and buy it for you. It did have some aftermarket rims, not sure the brand though.

Yeah I wish, there is no way I could afford to pay for that right now. Too many school loans and credit cards to pay off first.

what color was it? you should post some pics of it. blazinmr2, I'm pretty sure you'd be the only one in the states with a `99........although I thought they ended in `98, maybe I heard/read wrong.

The Stock MR2 beams (man that sounds funny) came in the red top and yes, they made a 99 here in japan but a very limited quantity. To my knowledge, they only made 1000 beams models.

i did take some pics of it, but i have to wait since my camera cord is in the mail to me as we speak. They will be posted soon.

I have seen a BEAMS red top with ITBs. I have also heard that Blitz makes a turbo kit for the black top BEAMS. Would probably need to customise the piping/exhaust for it to work.

Also I heard of TRD offering performance parts for the BEAMS motors, and I pretty sure you can find more then just one company that sells a turbo kit.

just gotta do a little more research, but there are parts for it.

i think you should go for it. VVTI with turbo would be insane. I hear the altezza dual vvti is better for turbo applications though. And before anyone says you can't put an altezza 3sge in an mr2, it can be done and has been done. I believe you only need a new intake manifold.

heres some pics of beams turbo someone was selling a while back.

Did someone say Redtop?

It is currently amid rebuild, but it should run pretty well when it is finished.

Its got an apexi intake, port and polished head, TOMs extractors, standard exhaust with a straight through pipe replacement for the cat.

Ive also got the Helical LSD gearbox with it, so it should go quite well hopefully.

Also, here is a few copy and pastes from some other forums where I posted:

You can see there the extractors to the left, plen in the foreground, rocker cover to the top right. HKS intake and cutom pipe underneath.

heres a pic looking inside the plenum.
note the factory velocity stacks.

And heres just a plain 'show off' pic of the rocker cover.

A pic of the block. Look where the block bulges on the side closest to the camera, inbetween the 1st and second bores from the left... This is the oil gallery used to feed the VVTI mechanism

picture of the head (Notice the cam angle sensor, down the left hand end of the intake cam (closest to the camera)

head pic 2
Note the solenoid or what ever on top of the head, near the RHS of the closest (intake) camshaft.

New piston

Here are some pics of the old piston, that blew itself up in a major way. Yikes!

Here is a picture of the porting that has been done.

Here are some pics showing the VVTI mechanism.
Notice the oil feed holes on both the end of the camshaft, and inside the cam pulley. It uses oil pressure to rotate the camshaft relative to the pulley.

VVTI mechanism
Note the hole coming out the side of the cam shaft... There is one on the other side too.

VVTI mechanism
Note the corresponding oil gallery, on the inside of the cam pulley.

Thanks. 8)

Yes, the engine is going into an SW20.

The engine/gbox/etc came from a 1998 gen 5, so its a lot more 'plug and play' than it would be if you got a Celica engine.

It should be a bit of fun when it's done.

Hi there.

I'm located in New Zealand, we get are the land of the cheap Japanese import basically.

I ordered a full gasket set, among other things, from my local toyota guy.

If you want the part numbers etc for the gaskets, let me know. You should be able to buy them through your local toyota, so long as you know the part numbers.

If you're going to Japan, you should have no trouble, as that is where all of my parts have come from.
