just keep them off the damn car unless you like getting punched in the face by the airbag and then spend 1000's of $ to replace them....

You are one of the very few on the board that actually owns a 99. They are hidden up front fairly well and I'd guess that Toyota did not move them in the 99 model. How do you know for sure that one of the sensors are bad? What problem are you trying to correct?

Hi Nuturnal,
Not trying to correct a problem. Situation is that the car has been striped back to bare metal ( total respray and new beams engine ) and going by the EPC there should have been a sensor if not 2 in the front. Everything is of ,the bumper ,radiators, everything in the frunk. But we didnt see any sensors. Was told that they might be on the fire wall that is the front ? Its just when we assemble everything l wounldnt want the AIR BAG light to come on ![]() Besides this the only other thing that cant be found on the EPC is the screws that hold the TEE TOP wind defectors, Clips for rear window, Screws that hold mirrors to their bracket. Apart from these items l have been able to get everything . And the EPC is accurate |

They are on the underside of the bumper reinforcement up front. Once you have the wiring harness in place it is fairly easy to see where they need to go. I can take a picture of one when I get back home.

Man that would be great, but with the reinforcement taken off there were no sensors there ?

Looks like my model doesnt have the sensors in the front like the previous models.
Toyota has told me they are electronic and are located in the air bag / center console |

1999 cars probably have second generation Toyota airbags.

The car has most definitely never been hit.
It has been stripped back to bare metal and everything is so straight that no filler is being used at all. There are absolutely no signs that anything has ever been touched or removed. I just didn't like the color. What color are the wires that attach to the sensors as l can check my loom to see if they are the ones that are taped and not used. Thanks ![]() |

Just an update.
Given the car is stripped and the frunk wiring loom is out of the car l connected all the bits to the loom in my garage and low and behold NO extra wire or plugs for the air bag sensors. So without a doubt the 1999 car doesnt have them on the front like previous models. Thanks everyone again ![]() |
