My BEAMS!!! 98 JDM...

My previous MR2, 1994 Rev 2

Now for the BEAMS!!!!

Think i went 'a bit' snap-happy! Lol

That was when i bought it (1 month ago)

This is how it is today...

Had the alloys fully refurbished, brake pads all round, Goodridge braided brake hoses, 4 Toyo T1R's, lowered on Tein S-Tech springs, full 3.5" decat stainless steel system (Stainless Creations, Falkirk - top work!), SARD Super Ex intake system, Trust gearknob. Think thats all i have done really.

Heres the pictures, let me know what you guys think!! (Good or bad)

[

Thats all thats getting done just now. Bigger brakes next year i think!

Looking good Jayzer - a few interior differences from mine though with the seats & doorcards, I've got the charcoal coloured cloth. Also noticed you've got a proper odo & milage correction - jammy git.

3.5" exhaust!!!!!!!!! - bet thats loud

GRR, bet I'm the only person here that can't see photobucket stuff -just attach the jpg's!!!!

Anyhow, we should meet up guys. I'm hoping we can get together with edophus who lives a few hundred yards from me. He's keen to see a BEAMS MR2 and I'd like to see a Celica as I'm thinking of buying a GT4 early 2008 (still keeping the MR2 though).

If you guys are looking at uprating the brakes, look no further then OEM discs and Carbotech pads from Rogue -for sure. Big brakes look really cool but these are pretty damn effective -far more than required for road use. Put the money into the engine.

Also, I've got oil pressure / oil temp gauges and a wideband AFR sensor / gauge kit (wideband kit still to fit) -those are great info givers tough I reckon I can do without the oil pressure gauge.

You can get an A-Pillar pod from MR2Eddy off imoc or I can tell you how to fit 2-off gauges where the ash tray is.

I got pushed off the road today -some old white haired guy pulled out into me and rather than metal to metal contact I put the car off up the verge. I locked up then the car turned -was more scared of bashing the cars behind if I fishtailed. Couldn't believe it but not looking before overtaking is pretty much the norm up here. Ended up at 45 deg and half on the road-half on the verge in the bushes. Smell it sir, I was sitting in it. Amazingly all that seems to be knackered is my Toyo on the front far side. Was going into work for an hour so put the car on the ramps and had a full check of it over the full underside and I can't see anything bent (amazing as I've got my coilovers set fairly hard). Few scrapes on my side skirt on that side and goarse scratches in the paintwork -but I'm painting it over winter so I'll live with that. Thank god for low kerbs -and ones which are sloped 45 deg, if it was a hard edge that would have been VERY expensive for the guy. Really annoying as when I looked at his car, it was scraped on most of the corners and he was very hesitant about notifying his insurers so I can't be the first person recently.

Just got money off the him for a new tire an hour or so ago. Think it scared the s***t out of him but there's no point in getting mad I suppose. F*'in tulip. Just as well it's not my daily -but that's sods law I guess.

Glad you got off reasonably lightly with one Richard - it's pretty hard to drive safe when no ****er else will.

Aye a meet would be good, maybe somewhere like Dundee as its roughly a halfway point for us all, give or take a few miles.

That thing is almost identical to mine, except mine came with a crappy bomex front spoiler and an oversized TRD rear wing (i wish they just left it stock!)

I find it interesting that your engine bay photos don't have a rear strut brace in it? did you take it out? im saying this because mine didnt come with one either! regardless a set of cusco strut braces are a great investment in the car.

take it easy

Very nice car! I've never seen the leather and suede seats with red stitching. The interior on my 94 gts was the same minus the red stitching on the seats. I wish I could have picked up a set of those. They match the wheel and knob perfectly. I'd love to get a 98-99 here in the states.

No, there was no brace there when i got the car. My plans are to get the standard cross-brace and get it powdercoated the same colour as the car then get an after market one on it aswell.

Any pictures of yours?

You can see a couple of pics here

http://www.mr2.com/forums/beams/Toyo...tml#post119808

They arent great but you get the idea, ive since taken off the snorkel and added strut braces but thats about it.

I personally wouldn't bother with the standard strut brace, i drove my old turbo with the stock strut brace, then no strut brace and it made no difference, then i put on a cusco rear brace and the car felt much more solid.
