Please tell me, what makes the BEAMS such a good motor?
So I see you guys talking about the beams, I think it makes about 180-190 whp, and is a n/a motor. And it is also very rare. Do the ct26's or the 20b's bolt right up to them? Is that a common setup that people run? Please, I would love to be edumacated on this topic. THanks beams owners.

I think the reason it is so great is cause you can get 200hp out of a NA motor. that is just as good as the 91 usdm turbo model, and i bet it would do even better around the track than the turbo. I dont think many ppl turbo the Beams motor do they?

not rare, just in limited quantity in the states.
And no, people don't turbo the beams really. There have been a few, most have resulted in failure. I am going to tackling that project pretty soon. |

Beams motors are red in color stock; so they're obviously better.

![]() now i've got my celica down to about the same weight my corolla which had a 2zz-ge in it really has come alive though, much better to drive than the 2zz, feels like its turbo charged almost the way it pulls, and is a flexible engine that also revs well, broad powerband, I think thats why its such a good motor, theres no hassle with it, its really quite simple compared to older 3s engines. |

So flexible . Great power for a N/A . Loves to rev and pulls very strong.
Very simple in layout without all the crap plumbing required as previous 3SGE or Turbo. As a street car engine absolutely wounderful !!!!!!!! Ild dare say one of the BEST toyota engines made. |

I dont have a beams motor but have done intensive research on it and it would say its a good motor because it matches the MR2 perfectly. I think its the best motor overall for the MR2 its light weight, board power band, high reving, N/A everything needed to bring out the full potential and purpose of the MR2. I also like the fact because its N/A you dont have to worry about the turbo spooling up during a turn and getting some severe snap oversteer which because you dont have to worry about that its much safer to push the car to the limits. Hopefully a yr. from now ill have my beams...
