the bore and stroke is square why would you go to a 2.2 with a longer stroke as it wont rev as hard and wont make the same power

So what can you do to stroke the engine to 2.1/2.2
I highly doubt that 2045cc will give any gains at all, maybe a bit better torque which would be very useful in keeping up with the V6ers. |

A 5s crank would be a good option to get a bit more displacement. I don't know that a longer stroke would hurt things tremendously. Look at the 2zzge. It's stroke is longer then the piston is wide and it's a very high revving motor.
Ehhh, but why fool with it? |

No but being the only guy in the world with a 2.1 Beams would be something Id be proud of but i would be worried about the wall being too thin but the torque should improve due to the increased displacement.

For me the beams has plenty of power. It's for weekend driving. It's great on gas with awesome power. Just a blast to drive. And most lexus and bmw drivers are surprised to see me keep up with them .

best to have at least an idea of where your going otherwise it is easy to end up doing random things that dont work together. |

Drive it slowly like a corolla and the fuel return is superb ! Gun it and it goes like a rocket , well for a 2 litre. Enough for CIVIC RS owner to ask me if l had a Turbo. |

If the planets align for me, one day I hope to have a stroked out twin screw supercharged BEAMS. How nasty would that be? But coming from a 5sfe, the stock BEAMS is so much fun to drive...seems like it revs forever and the power never drops off. When I autocross, people always ask me if it's a turbo.

For me, the whole purpose of going with a beams 3s was to avoid FI.
I could have gone with a gen2, or worse, just turbocharged the 5s if I wanted to go that route. Then the power would have been more a function of the size turbocharger I used vs the actual motor. I'm not a big fan of FI. If I wanted more, I would have used a 2gr. |

My long term plan was to go for supercharging the beams (all the power of the 3sgte with none of the Lag or turbo lol).
But then after looking into it more and more i realised that the true rarity of the beams lies in it being a 200bhp 2ltr engine without the use of any forced induction, so my current plan is to get the beams and increase the torque in whatever way I can maybe even quads (if the ones off the blacktop will fit) |

The BEAMS the way l see it is a modern engine. In so far as to its layout. SIMPLE.
Individual coil set up NO distributor, VVTi , velocity stacks, no crap hoses everywhere. Really once everything has been checked ( best to take apart and reassemble ) and once its running with no check lights coming on there is no need to take it to Toyota for a service. No tunning adjustments Change the oil and filter every 3,000 kms , gear oil say 20,000 kms, air filter 10,000 and wash her ! Put petrol and keep her singing ![]() My experience has always been if you look after a car this way it will give you years of trouble free. Once obviously it starts to add mileage things wear out which need replacing. Couldn't be any simpler unless someone can tell me otherwise |

Thats what i love about it
Its a 10year old engine that by todays standard is still in a league of its own, I just wish we could upgrade the redtop with the blacktop stuff as it is 10times more moddable than the redtop and also more reliable (supposedly). I have also been told that the blacktop is lighter but then again i dont know how true that is seeing as it has an extra vvti pulley, battery backed injectors and titanium is supposed to weigh more than sodium. Putting a few more KM's on her.
Driving very good ![]() Idle is very stable approx 850 - 900 rpm. One thing for sure the lightened fly wheel because of its lesser mass when the clutch is engaged slowing at the lights dips down to 600 rpm buut just as quick goes back. No stalling at all. The other thing its fantastic on double clutching it spins up very fast. 1st gear just revs straight up. 2nd gear is interesting rev up slowly and the power increases steadily, but push the accelerator and you can feel something opening up at 4,000 rpms and same with 3rd. At 70 kms/hr in fourth its only 2,550 rpm. Accelerate and it picks up fast but better to lower the gear. 5th i guess ill never find out Man second is a dream beautiful to run aroud in it ![]() Still waiting for my tires once their on l can finally have full alignment done |
