Are you kidding? Don't let the pretty red valve cover fool you!
Where else can you find a 4 banger thats pumping out 200hp without turbo? Not to mention that is comes from the factory with LSD Tranny, an intake manifold with individual velocity stacks in each runner, direct fire ignition, and 4-2-1 SS headers. Did I also forget to mention there is only a handfull of these power plants running around in the SW20 chasis? |

Gee l noticed that you left the alternator in the Celica position . Did that cause any problems ?
Also on another thread you quote your rears as having a 41 offset and you had to roll yje guards. Is that because you have 255. Will 235 fit without rolling on my 40 offset wheels 17 x 8 rears ? |

No im not kidding. YOu can find a 200 hp car in a s2000 integra type r honda prelude h22 ect ect. Nothing special to me. Wow its got velocity stacks DFI ect ect.big deal. 200 hp is 200 hp. Its not a hole lot and the later mr2s come with lsd from the factory also. Dnt get me wrong im not knocking ur stuff in anyway. It looks bad ass! Im just saying I like the turbo better. I mean show me a beams pushing 300 hp to the wheels with out have to spend a fortune

You don't see 300hp NA BEAMS because most people who get them, have them for a reason....they want an NA MR2 that is as fast as a stock gen 2 turbo, can run on a track all day long and all the maintenance needed is to change the oil every few thousand miles. |

Yeah you can turbo a beams but hence what I said make 300 WHP with one and " not spend a fortune". Who cares about VVTI. Its not any faster. So whats the big deal besides being able to say " I got VVTI and velocity stacks" whoopdee do. You still got only 200 hp and if you want more you better get ready to bend over and get hte vasoline. Which it already cost a ton just to get one and put it in. Then you got hte PITA with all the wiring ect ect. People get a beams just to say they have one or either just cause they want a fast NA. Like I said I like his car its freaking awsome. I was just saying im not a beams fan but the rest is bad ass. Not tryn to step on anyones toes

There is a saying: Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.
Are u saying it's a fortune to make a 300hp turbo BEAMS or a 300hp NA BEAMS? Who said VVTi makes things faster? VVTi smooths out the torque curve among other things. When I race, people are always asking if I have a turbo because I beat their ass with my little stock 2 liter inline 4. If you actually had a BEAMS and had one swapped into your car you might be able to talk about how much it can cost and how much a PITA the wiring is...but you don't...so you can't. I didn't get a BEAMS just to say I have one, I got one so I can spank people like you who think horsepower is the solution to everything. I'm not saying the BEAMS is god's gift to man but I believe it's the best stock engine that came in the MR2 for all around performance. |

![]() Yes the rolling has more to do with the 255 and the dropped suspensions. with 235 and 40 offset you should be fine. I noticed some fender rubbing when I use to hit bumps so I took a Louisville to fix the problem. It did'nt require much modifying to the rear fenders. mr2gq lets review a couple of basic things and discuss your flawed prospective. Beams 197 bhp (147 kW, 200 PS) @ 7000 rpm / 152 ftlb @ 6000 rpm Intergra Type R: 195 hp @ 8000 rpm / 130 lbs-ft @ 7500 I thinks SCC put it best in their review below: All this power comes on at a skyhigh 8000 rpm, while the engine redlines at an insane 8400 rpm. Lots of power, and fuel economy is more like that of an economy car than a full-blown sports car. But the weak point of the engine is too obvious to ignore. With a peak torque figure of only 130 lb-ft, it would have been an issue on the dragstrip had the car not weighed in at only 2600 lbs. The problem is compounded by the fact that the torque peaks at a massive 7500 rpm, thereby making the Type-R no better than a basic Civic at low revs. S2000 ='s 237hp @ 7800 / 162 ft lb @ 6,500 rpm Hand down the Beams 3sge takes the flag vs. B18C or F20C. Who has time to to rev past 8 grand to feel power? FYI: My last SW20 project had a Gen3 3sgte, Greddy TD06, Greddy IC, Apexi Intake, Apexi power FC and I can honestly tell you now that I've spent much more money on that than I did on this entire Beams swap including the chassis. One last note on why I chose the Beams powerplant: I get to see my screen name in Red thanks for Phoenix and the board owners ![]() Last edited by JDMsw20; 06-21-2008 at 04:45 PM.. |
