Ok now since i have finally tracked down a Red-top now i need to get some maintaince items.
This is a newb question and i searched but couldnt find a answer. What its the toyota recommended oil for the BEAMS? 5w-30 10w-30? I be using a toyota oil filter 90915-yzzf1 i think? i dont remember the parts # exactly but at 5 bucks its the best oil filter i have ever bought for a toyota. Spark Plug OEM part # BKR6EP11 - p/n: 90919-01179 check but what do i gap these to? Update: toyota p/n 90919-01179 was replaced by p/n 909190117883. Its a valid toyota p/n and lexus p/n, i dont what vehicles though but it has more applications in lexuses since its a premimum platinum plug. Also comes pre-gapped at .0444 I found its cheapest at rockauto.com at 7.13 a piece for 4 and comes out to 35.00 shipped for all 4 to my house. Tranny Fluid API GL-3 SAE75W-90 2.1 LITRES is what is called for in the BGB so something that meets that right? I will also do a coolant flush and refill with toyota red fluid. Im so happy i get to deal with air bubbles ![]() Last edited by Servin; 08-11-2008 at 03:13 PM.. |

Toyota here in Aussie land sells 5 liter cans of motor oil with the lable VVTi motor oil. Its 10W-30 and thats whats in the manual.
Your correct about the gear box oil SAE75W-90 . There is always a debate which one to use but l use redline and for me its excellent so far. As far as plugs and oil filter i just use the OEM that Toyota has in the manual. Platinum and there is no adjusting unless someone tells me otherwise. Relative speaking the Toyota filter and oil is cheap in the grand scheme of things and ill be changing it every 2,000 kms for the sakes of it. |

Thanks mandalay! I thought so I think toyota sells vvti oil here too but I'll probably use mobil 1 synthetic. It's been a favorite of mine for a while. As for gear oil I think I'm going to use Motul 300. I guess I'll just stick with the pre gap if it works for you. 2000kms that too early here in the US it's common practice to change the oil every 3k miles or roughly 4500kms. A full synthetic can be good for up to 5k miles or 8k kms. But I still change mine every 3k mi/4.5 kms.
