Apart from slightly narrowing the intake piping area just around the MAF, I don't get what else ring might do, perhaps just because its there it does indeed cause the air to be drawn faster thru the MAF?
Happy new year as well everyone!

I couldn't work out what else it would do apart from altering the flow through the sensor in the MAF body. They must have done some flow testing / dynoing when they designed it otherwise I can't see how they would come up with that idea.

My Google Map

I'm guessing that they make it so that if you're running the standard ECU etc, you can put the ring on, and it'll give the same cross sectional area which is required to get the correct kind of signal.

However if you're running an aftermarket ECU where you can recalibrate everything, then you can run without the ring, to give a larger cross sectional area and potentially more flow through the tube.

Although who knows for sure, I'm guessing there isnt an instruction manual that comes with the kit haha.

There is an instruction sheet with it -but can't speak Japanese so no idea -LoL.

I think it definately needs some tweeking with a stock ECU, hence I was going to try the Camcon -Running aftermarket ECU now so it was all re-mapped with the MAF still in there, but I came across the ring last week in my desk drawer, I'd forgotten I'd not bothered fitting it (just using the MAF for the temp sensor now rather than flow).
