Hmm, they say that if it gets dirty you didn't have to buy another one, it can be cleaned with an airgun.
edit: Btw, have anyone tried removing the little cap on the middle? Last edited by Lion_HUN; 08-18-2008 at 07:29 AM.. |

Midnite, I couldn't recommend an airgun for anything other than removing dust on the surface but some good quality poly cotton filters can be cleaned with a few buckets of soapy water (detergent not car shampoo), and plenty of rinses in plenty of cold water and a good few days drying off thoroughly in a warm cupboard / closet etc. Least I've cleaned a few good quality filters like the Super EX this way and they've come up very well. Of course there is a limit as to how dirty it is in the first place though!
I did a quick web search for Super EX + USA, but nothing much came up I'm afraid. JDM Parts, JDM Racing Accessories, Twin Plate Clutch, Turbo Kit, Fuel Injectors & other Motor Parts! came up with one match -other than that the only place I know of is Welcome to Sumopower - Number 1 for Japanese Tuning Parts but that's UK based and you're not going to get a good price here! ...I have a contact on IMOC - Home who can source direct from Japan for difficult to obtain parts -I'll drop him a PM to see if he can come up with anything for you -even some US supplier links. Sorry -can't seem to attach the website names without these stupid titles appearing in the post window. **edit -if yours came with a clip -did your MAF come with a little slip-on ring glued or secured around the torpeedo shaped body -make sure it did for it to work properly** |

And what if I already have the full kit, but I want to replace only the filter? Does someone sell it separetely?
I found this on the sumopower page, at the EX+ spare parts but I'm not sure if it's what I will need once my filter gets dirty enough to be replaced: "SARD 'Sports EX+' Induction Filter Universal £75.00" The whole kit is £160. I'm confused because I find it strange that the filter costs less than the bolt-on kit. |

That 2 piece of plastic is part of the SARD kit. You have to glue it to the MAF to modify its diameter for correct measuring. The kit works very rough with the stock, non-modified MAF.

ha wierd, got any close ups or instruction manual on that thing? I would like to see how/where it attaches, I have a bit of a custom intake a pieced together myself and I am wondering if I should perhaps do some MAF modding myself bc of it....I wonder what the theory/technology behind it is... |

Thanks buddy! Saw that again and finally realized what the hell i was looking at way back when. Now does that ring block anything at all? I noticed, from having my MAF in hands lately....long story, all the little do-dads about our MAF. Now where this ring sits there seems to be no inlets of sorts, I do know that our MAF releases the air behind where that ring sits, basically it goes in the middle/center then exits all around the outside of the MAF. I found this out whilst cleaning my MAF and got some nasty sprays in my face.... Apart from slightly narrowing the intake piping area just around the MAF, I don't get what else ring might do, perhaps just because its there it does indeed cause the air to be drawn faster thru the MAF? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() first post for me for 2009.
