What are the extractors? (I don't know that word)

Extractors = Headers/Exhaust manifold

Here's the thread where I read it from but I don't know if it's relevant as I just noticed it's a worked gen 2 3sge
ae85 trueno -5sge- - AE86 Driving Club

The difference with his exhaust system removed (except exhaust manifold/extractors/headers)

I see. I don't think thou that the BEAMS exhaust manifold is not enough. WFX bought some time ago a bigger diameter one, and as I remember he couldn't get much gain with it.

No what I was trying to say was, the exhaust system AFTER the exhaust manifold might have a lot to do with the high end power, because this guy removed his exhaust and he gained 20hp or so through the rev range

Exhaust on a stock BEAMS shouldnt affect much. But going over a 2.5 inch inner diameter would affect power and make you loose down end tq due to lack of backpressure.

This just confims that we need stock airbox or something similar like the camry intake that puts the MAF in a proper location.

Im going to try to track down a 1MZ air box and compare it to the pics I have and see if its suitable. That or see if my 5SFE air box will work with some adaptions.

Oh I see. That could be a problem for me as well, as I remember that part of the exhaust is not too pretty. I will take pics from it on weekend.

leave CAT in place (make sure its a QUALITY HIGH FLOW one), put in a performance resonator & muffler (from Vibrant like me ) and make sure the whole mess is on 2.5 inch pipe....I got my low end torque back (from resonator) doused the exhaust noise a whole bunch and got high-end power up. Our exhaust manifolds are more than good enough....i think aftermarket ones are only good for looks...don't think they actually offer better performance unless you got your exhaust ports ported & would need to match the manifold/runner for it.

EDIT: did that say 5S-GE ?? what the hell?

Yea its sounds weird cuz its not a factory engine, its based off of 2 engines the 3sge and 5sfe. 5sge is a mix off the GE head, gen 2 or 3 GE head most commonly and 5s bottom end.

Hi, i stumbled across this forum while searching 3sge, i was wondering if anyone knows what kind of power the standard Dual VVT-i 3SGE Black Top can handle? As im planning on turbo'ing one but not sure if i need to change anything. Also will i also need to change the head gasket for lower compression? Planning on 7-15psi max

To uuhhh settlle the MAF/Intake pipe diameter argument once and for all:

I have the OEM RedTop (Celica) Intake pipe here, I have chopped it up a bit because (muauahahahahahhahaaaaa!!!) I am planning to have one customish-made, depending on how much I need to BS this one tuner fanboi...

It is, drum-roll, 2.75 inches Inside Diameter, or 70.4mm or there abouts.
Cheers
