1/4 mile times

Well the day came and i finally took my car down to the drags to see how she went. I ran a best time of 14.762@153.59km/h(95.44mph for the old timers).
I set the car up running 28psi in the rears and standard in the front(35psi).
3/4 tank of BP ultimate and half a bottle of octane boost.
I really was hoping to run a low 14 and the only reasond i didnt i would say is my start.
60ft time was 2.199sec
Warmed the tyres up the usual way.
lined up, reved to 5500rpm and dropped the clutch.
there was heaps of wheel spin then 1seconds later the engine bogged down to 3000 not enough torque.
Im pretty sure the car would have been faster off the line with the old clutch as it used to slip a little and hold the rpm better, but gone is any slip now. Guess i just need to practice a little more
track temp was 18.3C/ 64.9F
Ambient temp was 15.0C/ 59.0F
Ill probably head back to the strip in about a month or so to try for a 14 flat. im pretty sure she's got it in her, ill just need to get the start right.
Ill let you all now how i go.

Thats a pretty good run. I can't wait until I can take mine to the track. Do you think 14 sec flat is possible with your setup? You just have intake and exhaust right?

ATM im just running a K&N panel filter and a 5zigen muffler. My muffler however since the drags is now blowing black fluffy stuff, kind of like insulation, out the tip guess its wore it out. dont know if the octane boost had anything to do with it??
I think a 1.7sec to 1.8sec 60ft time is possible. If i get that i should be running pretty close to 14 flats

Yea I know when I got my new exhaust it blew insulation all over the bumper for awhile but that was just when it was new. A 1.7 - 1.8 60ft time is cookin out of the hole. I dont know if that is doable. I mean it is but if your car is loaded and your on street tires than id think you could hit a 2 flat maybe a lil less given your power. What clutch are you running?

Im only guessing 1.7-1.8secs as the problem i was having was too much rear end grip. im pretty sure that was the reasond for the engine bogging down below the power band. As i dump the clutch from 5500rpm there was the initial wheel spin as the clutch bite in but then it stopped till i hit second. It felt slow to me and felt like it had more in it.
Dont know what brand of clutch ive got but its as bitey clutch as i could get without going for a metal one. Not much clutch shatter at low rpm and bites hard at redline! Tony Flood in perth built it for me after i told him what i wanted. Best $1000 ive spent

Try a higher/lower rpm launch, maybe feather the pedal a hair. You want to hook and shoot from the hole w/no wheel spin. But be high enough in the rpm/powerband to get moving quickly.

Consistent 1.7's is possible on street tires, but it takes practice. Probably a lot of it

In 2007

I ran a 14.03 with 17'' x 8 wheels at normal 35 psi tire pressure with a 5sfe transmission and the OEM clutch of the 5sfe with 130 000km (usually made for 130hp)

had a 60ft time of 2.04

14.03 at 97 mp/h
K&N intake and custom exhaust

you simply need to drive better I think

Never tried since that day so no idea with the new LSD transmission
