There's no issue using the beams AT ecu with a manual transmission.

If you get an AT beams, you'll need to get a 3sg(t)e flywheel. Your 5sfe flywheel won't fit a 3sge.

Thank you for the info.Do you know of any places where i can get a manual tranmission + 3sgt flywheel & is it hard to install a beams engine into a mr2 because this engine seems kinda simple in a way.

The manual transmission beams comes with a newer s54. So you can just reuse your old transmission, or get one from another mr2.

You're looking for a 3sg(t)e flywheel, not a 3sfe flywheel.

A 3sgte flywheel can be purchased on this board cheap. If you go this route you'll use the 3sgte flywheel and pressureplate and then the 5sfe clutch disk and throwout bearing. The 3sgte PP is very stiff but grabs hard.

A 3sge flywheel is a little harder to find. They sell aftermarket ones on ebay, you can get them used from non usdm celicas, mr2's, and possibly late 80's celica gt's that came with the 1st gen 3sge. If you go this route, I would get an upgraded clutch set as the stock 5sfe/3sge clutch set is a little weak for the beams.

Installation is like reinstalling a 5sfe. It's the wiring that will get you.

I just finished my swap and it was not hard.....The hardest thing is waiting on all the parts to come in....I used a lighten flywheel for the 3sgte and a OEM pp with a OEM spec clutch disk for the 5sfe...The clutch is stiff but it seems to hold well..I just used a stock tranny for the 5sfe that I got from a salvage yard ...Finding the throw out bearing was hard...I suggest just getting it from Toyota...All the ones that the parts stores got for me (3 total) were to small...The install was not hard at all...mr220v did my harness and he did a great job...If he is still doing them I suggest letting him do it...It was plug and play...very nice... All the people on the board are good about helping if you need help finding things...Good luck

I used the one from Toyota...part # 31230-32060...It looks like the ones that the parts store ordered but wider...The others didn't fit the release fork...
