Yes finally short block is together !
All measurements perfect. All measurements with OEM bearings are right in the middle . Fantastic . Compression ratio is 8.9 : 1
Argo rods no problems with OEM rod bearings
SPS pistons no problem . Valves clear pistons 100 %

Spent time with the builder today. Finally found someone more anal than me about engines
He is blue printing everything. Man he even trimmed the pistion rings for the right gap.
I have found an error with a part.
The oil squirters have been updated. They now have the allen bolt that holds them recessed into the body of the oil squirter. I guess to give a greater distance to the revolving crankshaft. Well they havent updated the allen bolt. No big deal, but to find an error is very rare.
Next , looking at the head, Toyota machined the holes for the head bolts just to clear the bolt. The washer must be droped in first at an angle. Why they didnt bore the hole for the size of the washer beats me.
Well because im getting my studs made ( to a longer length ) and the washers also instead of being 2 mm thick they will be around 40 mm ( for more stretch of the stud )
I have to bore out the opening, The aluminium is there...................
Ill also have to think about one more thing since the head is being machined i might tap the head for the oil return from the oil catch can like the Turbo head instead of using my pot, well more OEM i guess.
Also he can recheck all my shims

Head studs and washers have been made. And were ready to put it together.
Well i went for my last run and washed here.
Here we go , im starting to dismantle here.
Need the head and some other bits of my engine but the rest will be new.
First stage will be closing the engine, Then X-Mass break
then put the fuel pump in and then the engine.
Then ill tow here home so as i can add all fluids, hoses and wiring. And lastly she will be tunned.
Should be done buy late Feb early March

Pics or it didn't happen! Of the squiters please!
Funny, we used 20/30 mm washers as well on this Honda build, not for mote stretch but simply because the studs were too long. No biggie, turned out to be better.

Redesigned oil squirters

Extended washers to allow longer studs to be made

Machined studs

Custom pistons. Note the recalculated squish area and volume.
Way over my head . Engineers racing knowledge

I don't immediately recognize the difference in oil squirters, compared to mine, could I already have the updated ones? Maybe a comparo would shed light...

Is that quarter panel out of whack? I pride myself for being able to recognize any car from just a limited picture of a single part...

Hey buddy, I figured I'd give you a break because you seem to be on a roll!
My spacers looked ghetto compared to your

Do you have any data on the shape of the flame front on those pistons? Angle, direction?

Yeh he is using it for parts. Man its wall to wall alfas there with the odd ferrari.
No you wouldnt have the updated ones in the Red Top.
The original were are cast body . Now they are machined.. Also see where the allen head bolt is , well its different ,greater clearance to the crankshaft balancers

Hey man i really never minded the " is it finished yet "
AND THATS NOT AN INVITATION TO SAY IT !!!!!!!!!!!!

Have to get my head to the builders this week , Or its a 4 week delay. Man i have to destroy my VVTi pulley to get it off. I ground back the pulley to get to the bolts , there off now but **** still cant remove it as the head peice goes into the pulley cavity. So im going to remove the 5 allen bolts that attaches the outer section hopefully it will move forward so as i can lift the cap.

Now before you say $ , well its cheaper than getting my car towed to and back and there is no way im leaving it at the shop for weeks till the engine is built

No i dont , i can ask but i know on his racing cars he has had the piston manufacture build a lot of pistons in getting squish area abd volume to his liking.
The theory on the longer studs , well thats why Ferraris are so long. Also on his alfa he ran the Bathurst race nearly the whole race 1000 kms with a cracked block.

Final word, YOU CANNOT take the head off without dropping the engine.
Stripped the engine, took the front and back bumpers off , engine lid and boot lid.
Its of to the engineers ro drop the engine..................This has been a long day 16 hrs straight. I am stuffed !!!!!!!!
