Suspension with lowering springs - Question
Hi all...I have a Rev5 and it has been lowered before being imported to the UK form Japan and not sure about the lowering they have done.
Probably a bit of an ask but it has been fitted with white springs....probably givena drop of about 30-40mm any ideas what they are....looks liekthey have not had the geomatory done either as the camber on the rears is out, worn the inside shoulder of both tyres at the rear. Folloing this the ride is very harsh so much so that if going at some speed and come across a lumpy part of road it gets rather heart stopping. Dont get me wrong its great on smooth tarmac and corners like a go kart but is somewhat hard to keep in your seat on the bumps.....shocks maybe or has it been set up for track use??? It does not have coilovers that are adjustable, look like standard shock mounts as I can tell....im no mechanic ....the cost of a new set of Bilstein shock absorbers just makes me come out in a cold sweat . Also I am getting a clunk sound from the rear drivers side when going over uneven surface....which we have alot of...i did have a MK2 rev1 a few years back and this did the same....any ideas.Cheers all |

Iirc, TRD's progressive springs for the MR2 are black. The clunking sound from the rear suspension indicates that your struts are blown. You can replace them with new inserts (most likely don't need a new strut housing) from Bilstein or Koni. From the sound of it, the previous owner installed high compression springs on stock struts, which I've always read was not a good idea.

koni's are inserts into your old strut housings with external damping adjustments.
bilsteins are a fill drop in replacement strut with no adjustments. both require springs, either use the old ones or new, aftermarket ones. im going koni's when i get the money together, **** i love trade discount! ![]() |
