Make sure at the base infront of the oil pump you have the timing belt plate .
Its about one inch with a bolt holding it. The sender has 2 bolts and holds it in the right position. The cable then has a couple of metal clamps that hold it near the block so it doesnt foul on anything. Soory no pic ![]() |

right so got the rebuilt engine in and connected up...started it up and only the middle two pots are firing..... all have fuel and spark, now the compression on all the pots is spot on and although In thought I'd got the timing right I'm thinking it could be the fault...normally the engine would have bent some valves if that was the case but that not happened...maybe the forged pistons have made it non-interference ?? so scratching my head here any thoughts guys ??

You didn't mess up the cam angle by any chance? The entire wiring is left untouched? |

WAIT, HOLD ON FOR A MINUTE.
Last post you asked about the crank angle sensor now you have started the engine ? Where are the rest of the pics and posts ? What ECU are you running ? Is the firing sequence correct ? Did you take the leads off the coils and crank it first ? Are you saying only cylinders 2,3 are firing ? I reckon you havent put the timing belt on correctly stands to reason, Did you have cylinder 1 at TDC when you put the timing belt on ? |

think I'm looking at a timing issue, did set up the timing using the timing marks.
no problems with fuel or spark on any cylinder .still one or two things I'd like to try but in any case I'm going to have a look at the timing in the next few days. have some piccies to post up anyone got a diagram of the wiring that's on the plug that connects under the fusebox part of the loom ?? |

Are you positive that you have spark ? and fuel ?
Main reason. Next compression test and see if you have a leak , open the engine oil filler and listen for any sound. Was told today timing will not be the reason. What ECU have you installed ? |

.............. right just got back from the unit...sprayed some easystart in the TB and now have three cylinders firing so I would guess I have loss of vacuum somehow on the inlet manifold....compression tested all cylinders and it's perfect cheers Last edited by oldsoul45; 04-03-2010 at 10:11 AM.. |

Thats in the kick panel ?
Didnt touch that one. However the beams body loom did run the Fuel pump wire , air con, air con amp to the kick panel where as my body loom jointed those lines on the fire wall and ran them down the center consok. Dont have a drawing showing it . What do you need to know ? |

Ah crap I don't have that one handy. The boys over at CelicaTech do....infact njccmd2002 posted about it in CelicaTech, he recently dealt with that plug in his RedTop swap, would be a great idea to rattle his brains about it. |
