Question What do I need?

I have a 93 mr2, it currently has a 5s-fe and just not enough power in it, I am looking to swap it out, I was thinking the mr2 3s. But I just recently heard of this beams motor.
-Where do I get one for a good price?
-What partes do I need?
-What kind of ecu do I need?
-Does it just bolt right in?

then any two cents will be appreciated, haven't heard much on this motor

thanks Jeff

It really depends on how much you want to spend and what hp goals you have in mind. If you are looking for a more simple swap, you might want to consider going with a JDM clip from Josh at Chico Race Works (the_mister3@yahoo.com). You can get a low mileage GEN2 or GEN3 3S-GTE half clip that comes with the engine, transmission, ECU and wiring harness. Shoot Josh an email. He is very helpful and can give you even more options on your swap.

Here you go: Clips. Are you doing the swap or are you paying someone to do it?

Are you going to do the installation yourself ?
Have you found an engine ?
There are a few questions that need to be answered as your asking how much but give no detail.
My recommendation is to seek the advise of the sponsored shops on the board that have done these intalls............ Best place to start

Hi
I did the 5S-FE turbo thing. Not worth it. Perhaps it would be a bit more fun in an MR2. Mine was in my 92 Celica. It spun the tires like crazy in 1-2-3 gears, which gets really old after a while. I swapped in the BEAMS. OMG Heaven.
As to what's needed? Engine+parts, add one dash of hands (good ones, not those homosexual nintendo playing ones) & a weekend or two.
Go 3S-GTE and to some extent replacement parts are slightly easier. You won't be 'leet' though because 3S-GTE MR2's are pretty common.

I wanna do a swap with a beams red top, but dunno if I have the money for it right now, but that is what I'd wanna do most of all, but I know I will prolly get stuck with the 5s :\

trust me, save your money for the BEAMS, you'll be much MUCH happier with that than a lackluster 5S-FE-Turbo....plus its more headaches to keep the 5S doing things right on boost, it was never an engine intended to be turbo-charged....while the 3S cylinder-block & head have a history/pedigree of boost
