Having B Pipe woes?
Ive been working feverishly to try and find a replacement B pipe since my shop lost my OEM one in their move.
Most of the info will be most useful to US residents, where parts are hardest to come by for the BEAMS. Its relevant for both the Celica and MR2, as they both use the same flange, length of 2-1 section and angle. After the flex piece though its complete differently for the Celica and MR2.Pipes to cross the list that are similar but dont work: Fujitsubo Super EX for 2nd gen 3SGE SW20 ver. I had this imported with hopes I could use the B pipe and rear piece. Simply put flange is completely off and the pipes are too close in the V config, the BEAMS uses a wide V angle. (When I use V, I mean 2-1 section.) Inner Diameter is correct for the BEAMS pipe though, and the right length and angle to clear the oil pan. (If you have a gen 2 3SGE in your MR2, this will be for sale, not cheap though.) ![]() On the US ebay there is an aftermarket header for the Celica 7AFE that uses a 4-2-1 setup as well. Ordered it and its the same story too narrow of an angle. Also the B pipe doesnt go low enough to clear the oil pan. If you have a 7AFE celica, Ill give the header and B pipe, just PM me, it didnt cost me much and the quality is okay. (But Im picky, not as much as Angelo but close.) ![]() 20V 4AGE uses a OEM 4-2-1 setup as well but again too narrow of an angle in the 2-1 section. Flange is off as well, I dont know if it will clear the oil pan as I didnt test this. Aaron makes a B pipe to fit the 20v in the AW11, I need to get him some specs and chat a little bit and possibly making one for the BEAMS in the SW20. ![]() Almost gave up the search and contemplated getting a custom one made, but not really any good fabricators around here. I really wish I knew how to weld as I could make this quite easily. Then I got a second wind and scoured the Toyota catalog to find a matching piece. When finally everything came together!!! And from a fellow family member too!!! The MR-S or MR2 Spyder uses a 4-2-1 section as well on the 1ZZ! After some looking around on SpyderChat I found a local guy selling a OEM downpipe. After some chatting I picked it up today for $100 a little over priced but I just wanted it now. As you tell in the pics it will need some modification to fit but thats not a problem for me. ![]() After Modification: Obviously the cat had to go as the angle is all wrong ![]() ![]() ![]() Issue! The flange is off SOB! but that doesn't stop me! It isnt that big of an issue, flanges are easy to make even for the folk around here. But the important part is that the angle is right and the inner diameter is the same. It also clears the oil pan!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

So there you go, if you dont have a B pipe, cant get a custom one made or pay for one, then you can get a used MR-S B pipe (they call it a downpipe btw, which is wrong! lol). You can easily get one for under $100.
Ill post more pics after I work out the flange issue, I have several ideas. Though honestly I might just use this temporary and make the order to Japan for a brand new OEM piece. But we'll see ![]() |

A good idea would be too look for the part number for the flange gasket that goes between the 4-2 and 2-1 sections for the beams motor, and then cross reference it to other motors to see if they use the same part?
fakeedit: Oh, they use those little ring gaskets dont they. Nevermind ![]() In other news, wasnt it concluded that a gen 3 3SGE B pipe fits up properly to the beams 4-2 section? |

Yes the 3rd gen 3SGE piece does fit and what I had, too bad you cant get it here in the States and it kinda harder to find on the auctions. Ive tried the Euro guys but they are too lazy/slow! Its also the only continent that I havent shipped parts from other than S. America and Africa.
![]() Also if ordering new the BEAMS piece is cheaper than the 3rd gen according to ToyoDiy. ![]() |

I still reckon you should have let me get you a new one. Only $320 USD plus shipping.
Oh remember the B-pipe has the O2 sensor also and if i remember correctly it has to be positioned at the correct angle and distance ? |

There is one here local.
Also a new one will be shinny with all the heat insulation shields around it. The cat is what is really expensive unless you get one made over there. Toyotas price is rediculous, Even I DIDNT BUY IT . Plus prefer the stailess steel high flow one i got |

Haha! I like the dedication! kinda hard to think that it caused you all that trouble just because no one's capable of doing it for you, or maybe just as you said, you're picky.

Servin, I'm going to murder whenever I see you, if evar!! Dude for that amount of time and money I would have custom welded you one myself, hand delivered it and installed it for you too!!! WTF is wrong with you?!!!?!?
316 SS lab-spec steel too! Dude pick up a mig welder at your local sears or homedepot, you can teach yourself how to weld pretty damn good over one weekend, given the wife doesn't kick you and your new sparky girlfriend out! You *can* write with a pen right? If so, then you can weld just fine!! Sheesh you guys! We are custom fitting a whole hell of a lot in our cars, we should be creative enough to figure out how to custom weld our own exhausts.....unless you are OEM Nazi MANDALAY.... |

here's the cheapest solution i've found:
TOYOTA MR2 2.0 16V FRONT EXHAUST PIPE 01/94-06/96 *NEW* on eBay (end time 06-Nov-09 21:36:24 GMT) I grabbed one of these for my beams mk1 project. Havent' fit it up yet, but it looks compatible. So, it's a $130-$150 solution. |

Did you have to tell them that you were international cause the page shows that it only posts to the UK.
But if they do overseas I might order one up as well, as this much cheaper than the OEM piece though quality is a less. |
