Deff not a good idea you maybe better off with a 4g63 seeing as thats close to whats in them to begin with! most people dont know this but the 4cyl they put in the tiburons are almost exactly the same as the 4g63 turbo motor they put in the evo's I just did a timing belt and water pump on one and the had the same part numbers as the evo! If you gonna do a swap keep it within the family seeing as hyundai uses mitsu engines your best off sticking twit their platforms!

i was wanting the most power i can get while being the most reliable as well i have heard that the internals of the beta 2 are kinda weak and my op is that Toyota and Nissan are the top dogs of the import world i was also thinking of going all out and converting it to rwd and slapping the l6 out of a supra or r34 in it

The only problem is the new genesis engines are longitudinal/RWD based and there is no trans that will bolt up to keep it FWD/transverse mounted (I've looked into this)...
Yes it can be done, but would take a lot more work with a custom trans adapter and what not. Plus the cost is very high. A gen 2 or 3 GTE engine bolted to a Solara trans would be far more cost effective and easier to do if a reliable turbo setup was wanted. With a Beams or any transverse config engine & trans, the swap would only requier costom mounts to be made (much easier) along with other minor stuff. Trans adapters requier very precise tolerances when measuring for and machining. If these tolarences are not held, you will destroy the input shaft and or input bearing in short order. |

the 4g63 is very reliable the ones you hear about breaking are 15+ years old with 150k miles on them it would be the easiest swap for your setup and probably the cheapest!
Not only that the aftermarket for the 4g is one of the largest I had a 2g eclipse and made 370whp with alil over 2200bux! put many hard miles on it and never had any issues! People are making 550whp on stock blocks I know 2 people localy doing this ones been running like this for 3 years! just a thought and my 2cents! |

One thing to note with the 4g63 setup, the one used in the EVO is different then the one used in the older eclipse. This would make it harder and more costly to find the correct engine.
EDIT: or atleast the head is totally different. Im not sure about the block, but the head will kinda dictate the orientation of the engine int he engine bay... |

yea he would have to use the the engine from an evo as the tranny is mounted on the same side as the tiburon the old 4g's were on the other side!

Mitsi Starions had a RWD gearbox that was setup for a north/south 4G63. An audi or subaru gearbox could make a north/south motor work for FWD... Or GTR skyline running gear perhaps? ![]() edit: Oh, wait I see what you mean. The engine you're wanting to fit in a transverse setup, only comes in north/south? Evo motor sounds like the go, if the car comes with pretty much an NA 4G63 to start with. |

The new Genesis is RWD (rear wheel drive) and thus the engine is North/South
The Tiburon is FWD (front wheel drive) and the engine is East/West Using the Genesis engine in a east/west setup is going to be hard cause there are no east/west tranny's that will bolt to the Genesis engine. The New "Genesis" engine is Not a 4G63, the "Tiburon" engine was. The new Genesis engine was designed and built by Hyundai (AFAIK). In the Tiburon, Hyundai just purchased the engines from Mitsu.. |

Don't those guys license the Mitsu engine design for ALL their cars? (very smart btw!)
Besides that, there is a bunch of those V6 Tiburon's that got boosted & are totally killer & for pennies too, compared to what you wanna do by adding BEAMS or 3SGTE. My money is on staying with the engine designed for that engine bay & doing some killer things to it. Make outside look all lame & demure && add something like 18 to 20 psi boost &&& really make all american white boy look lame & dumb (null & void?) with his "push-rob V8 Whatever" or "Look Our Center Seat is still the same center seat yet we attack Toyota for their center seat, for big girls" Puerto Rico has a pretty big crowd doing some killer numbers on their Tib's |
