MANDALAY: Melbourne Performance wouldn't be located on Mountain Highway near Stud rd? If so I think I've driven past that place many times.
I'd appreciate it if you can have a look at your spare loom on the weekend. If it's not too bad I would be interested in buying it from you if you're willing to sell it. I understand there would be some modifications required to make the things you noted work but I guess It'll be a better base to start off with considering I've got a TYPE I/II loom where the ECU has only three plugs. The speedo in my G-Limited as I mentioned earlier is mechanical driven so I'll retain that. Maybe when the time comes I can get the contact number for your auto elec? Anyhow thanks again Mandalay for your help and wealth of knowledge. I'm really looking forward to the day when I can drive my G-Limited again. ![]() |

Yes thats the one.
Will do on the W/E Didnt you get the Beams gear box with LSD ? Confirm that you have that plug on the fire wall. Since im running the CAN cable for my MoTec i could see which ones they are connected to but if memory serves me correct there are a couple of wires in the body loom that are the same color ![]() |

Body loom has been shecked ,
All i can see missing is probably the plug for the demister and the plug for one of the rear lights. They can be easily fixed with the loom you have. PM me and we can discuss selling price |

MANDALAY: Unfortunately I didn't get a transmission with my BEAMS engine so I'll be using my existing transmission for the time being.
I have a feeling my car will have that plug on the fire wall but I'll check just to be sure on the weekend. Thanks for checking your spare loom. I'm sure I use my de-mister and tail light plugs PM will be sent shortly. |

If you have the S54 gearbox then the LSD from the mk3 will work if you swap off the diff bearings and crown wheel

Protok: Thanks man. I'll definately keep that in mind and yes I do have an S54 in my G-Limited. I was planning to use my current gear box until I can source a late model S54, rebuild it and throw in a CUSCO RS or TRD 1.5 way LSD.

MANDALAY: I'm not sure if you got my PM the other day, but I am interested in your spare (cut) loom, that's if you are interested in selling it to me
. Would e-mail be a better means of communication? |

Just a bit of a small update:
I finally got a body loom! Many thanks to Mandalay for selling me his spare loom. I'm planning on taking the car to IDB in the next couple of weeks to get the original engine removed then it'll be pushed next door to Anson Auto so the engine bay and front compartment can be painted, from there the conversion will begin .Furthermore I bought a couple of things for my G-Limited and my GT-S. MR-S badges: Blue for the G-Limited and black for the GT-S. I currently have a blue on on my GT-S. ![]() ![]() DELTAV stainless steel sway bar reinforcement plates. Cool
![]() Im not sure if you done it before but removing the engine from underneath is easier. Also Take all the stickers of the engine bay and make sure they remove ALL grease befor repainting. Dont know how far you are taking the painting but most car only have a base coat and maybe a flat clear coat if you want to retain a factory appearance. Full gloss is a give away but then again it might be your preferance. As far as the frunk is concerned are you really sure you want to paint it ? Its sooooooooooooo busy and unless you remove everything i seriously doubt how it will look ? I did for mine but it was a pain but great fun. Just remember to have heaps of plastic zip bags for the bolts and drawings or epc where they all go. It can look really great ![]() |

MANDALAY: Nice front compartment you have there mate. I actually had the engine bay and front compartment painted on my GT-S and it turned out really well. My panel beater did it all for me so I'm getting him to do the same thing with the G-Limited. It certainly doesn't look factory as my aim is to have the engine bay and front compartment the same shade and finish as the exterior.
I've never dropped the engine myself but Ian at IDB has worked on many MR2s including my GT-S, he does drop the engine. On another note, it seems like you're getting quite an audience on the Australian MR2 forum with your build thread [ ] |

MANDALAY: Not many of them would be on this forum as they either have:
1. An older generation 3S-GE in their car. 2. A generation II or III 3S-GTE. |

UPDATE:
I decided to take the day off today and got the car towed to the workshop It turned out to be a very productive day with the below done: - I attached the tail light and power antenna plugs to the BEAMS body loom (Thanks MANDALAY for providing this loom). - Original (Generation II) 3S-GE removed - A fellow MR2 owner and I unbolted the gearbox, clutch and flywheel from the engine. - Pushed the car to the bodyshop (next door) where the front compartment and engine bay will be painted. Servin: True mate. I guess most of the Aussie MR2 owners just read/post on the Australian MR2 message board.

UPDATE:
I spent a few hours today trying to remove the old body loom. Needless to say I didn't finish the job so (not much more to go) I hope to complete this next Saturday. Pictures below: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I would've choose something else mate
Not to rain on your parade but that foam element offers poor filtration and poor air flow. |
