Servin: Thanks for the heads up mate. I've had a couple of people say negative things about this filter so I plan on buying an APEXi or TRD unit instead. I'm leaning towards the APEXi (unless someone can recommend me a better one) as I've never had a problem with my APEXi Power Intake on my MR2 GT-S.

You will have problems with the APEXi Power Intake on the Beams because the MAF just causes the ECU to quite simply throw a fit.
Stick to the stock airbox with a panel filter or get yourself a SARD Sports EX, that has a way to modify the MAF sensor so that the stock ECU works properly. This will see you have gains instead of the usual losses in HP. Link to SARD Intake: SARD Sports EX Plus Top Intake Toyota |

Protok: Thanks man. I should have been more clear when I wrote about the APEXi as I have always planned on keeping the stock airbox but using an APEXi or TRD drop in filter.
![]() I've been doing some reading before i bought the BEAMS engine and found that some people that weren't running the factory airbox were experiencing problems with loss of power. I think my main concern with my conversion is removing the original body loom and replacing it with the BEAMS body loom I bought from MANDALAY then figuring the wires I need to modify. I've read somewhere: Fuel pump (Blue wire?) Air con Air con sensor tigger Speedo - I'm assuming I probably don't need this right away as I will be using the current gearbox and cluster which is cable driven. |

As long it is a drop in panel filter for the stock you will be fine. Normally the HKS one would be fine but for some reason they use a goofy foam element which is no good.

Speedo should come straight from the gearbox though I myself couldn't use this so I have ended up changing the front hubs to ABS type and am now using the speed signal from there.
I think to do that you will require a standalone due to the signal needing to be configured. |

Servin: Yeah mate, I don't have any plans to run an aftermarket intake because of some people's issues. Regarding the HKS being made of foam, I wonder why they did it and why haven't HKS bothered updating their air filters.
Protok: That's what I figure - mechanical speedo sensor from gearbox should go straight to the back of the cluster = less wiring required . I guess the way you did yours is another option if I have no other choice. Thanks for the info Protok.MANDALAY: Oh TRD filter! If you don't mind me asking how much do they roughly go for and what's the turn around? I would really appreciate your help with identifying the wires Angelo! In saying that does the BEAMS loom ends at the passenger side kick panel? The reason why I ask is that I have started removing the old body loom and I got up to unplugging the plugs on the passenger side kick panel, however I think (haven't checked properly) it seems to continue on. By the way what are your movements like on Sunday? I was thinking I can drop by and pick up that bolt and you can check out my Revision 6 lights. |

sorry for the off topic
does anybody know if the combustion chamber between Red Top 3sge and SX10 3sge are the same? because if m1stertwo's 3sge will work fine with those pistons without hitting valves, everybody who wants to turbocharge our red top definitely could use todaracig low compresion piston for SX10's 3sge tnaks |

Well the block between the redtop and blacktops are the same.
I have a set of Altezza pistons ready to go in mine but I've decided against it for the moment as I am already running 12:1 compression. |

MANDALAY: Hey Angelo, I had the engine bay and front compartment painted white because I'm planning to have the whole car painted white.
The reason why I chose white for this car is because I've always wanted a white SW20 N/A hardtop. i LoVe My Mr2: If you're referring to the time it took to take the original engine out and put the new one in (straight out and straight in) then it would have taken approximately 4-5 hours combined. With my car the original 3S-GE was removed about a month ago and the car sat in my friend's workshop until I removed the body loom, had the engine bay and front compartment prepped and painted then I put the new body loom in before the BEAMS 3S-GE was installed. |

i LoVe My Mr2: This afternoon (while I was at work) I called my mechanic and he told me to hold the line for a sec, next thing I heard was an engine crank over and start. I asked my mechanic "is that my car?" and he replied with a 'yes'
. I won't see the car until Saturday where I'll start putting the interior back together and attach a b-pipe. |

i LoVe My Mr2: How did you go about wiring your beams engine? I'm assuming you used a SW20 or ST202 engine loom and your original SW20 body loom?
