I wouldn't think it would be all that much really. Cams would alter the powerband, but exhaust and intake mods shouldn't require much if any retuning. For that hks intake pipe, they still have to be the same size as stock as making it wider or narrower causes faulty afm readings.

I think his tune might not have been totally perfect. Maybe a little less overlap in the lowend, and none starting out.

TBH honest that map was 'best of a bad job' really.

I booked it in for a road+dyno mapping session. All the mapping that was done on the road was lost and probably all the low end driveability with it. I can't fault the mapper for this as I hadn't payed proper attention to the procedure for storing new data that Brashboy had provided me with in their 'engrish' instruction manual.
The rest of the work was done on the dyno and the mapper didn't have all the time he would have liked to get it right. A combination of me turning up late and all earlier data being lost isn't a good starting point.
The final comment from Lyndon was that there will be much more power available when I replace the factory exhaust & cat.
Yes I fitted the Phoenix's sytem after I had the thing mapped. Which is stupid. I mean who does that?

The HKS filter is a pile of ****. The car has better performance on the factory airbox+ecu. That maponly adds about 4-5hp up to the factory redline, any real gains are made after that up until 8krpm.

I really believe that 180whp is available from the parts I have fitted(apart from HKS filter). It's been done before with E-Manage and the PFC is way better than a piggyback.

Who knows, maybe I'll get all this done properly at some point. But with the way things are in the UK at the moment and me being pretty much on tender hooks as far as employment goes, I've got bigger things to worry about.

Feels like I've wrote all this out before somewhere?!?!? Blast from the past lol.

Yes, easy as cake. The BEAMS engine comes out a 1998 "GT"-ish Celica.
Mine went into a 1992 Celica, very simple...

Nick get thee back down to Rogue. I know Lyndon's not working for them now (mine was the last car he did on thier pay book and I kep him in Tweksbury on the dyno for ages) -he spent more dyno time on mine than any MR2 he mentined before. Gotta say it's worth saving for a good mapper and they recalled yours as a bit unfamiliar / "pioneering" and something which might come out.

....Man you'll be quicker than me an day though LoL. Bigger balls Apart from you coating my windscren with fuel when I was fallowing you I was Impressed

...........And ditch that HKS man!!!!

**EDIT -hope things works out for you man, hold in there**

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum but I've had a ss3 98 beams celica for a while now and I need some help.

It's a great car but it has this VERY irritating dead patch from 3500-4000 rpm of no torque before it gets going at ~4200 rpm and then it's all good till 6800 rpm where it suddenly runs out of puff till the limiter. I'm going to get a 2 1/2 inch cat free exhaust fabricated onto it, a high flow air filter and get it dyno tuned to see if I can smoothen out that power band. I live in the country and use about this much revs (4000) on each gearchange so I always get into this irritating rev band. Does anybody know what might be wrong with it?

Fixed it!

I took it in and got the ecu checked and due to a past dirty fuel filter it (the ecu) had the car in a lean protection mode. Now that thats cleared its fantastic. Now it's easily the most torquey 4 cylinder I've ever driven (better even than a prelude type s). yay I want to keep my car now

I wish I had figured this out 20,000km ago

I was wondering, can the stock computer be tuned? or does it need a mapped chip or piggyback? I would like to get the air fuel spot on and lift the rev limiter now. (for track days ) I would appreciate any help
