I think I've been conned. :(
I think I've been conned.
It would appear that someone gave me a rotary instead of a redtop. http://rapidshare.de/files/22756612/barp_barp.wmv.html ![]() |

Remember folks, for Rotary noises, it's brap brap, not barp barp.
That's pretty bad *** though! |

barp barp for bridgeport and brap brap for peripheral port noob. :P
Either way, it doesnt sound at all like I was expecting it to. I think it's because of the light flywheel. |

Um, I've built bridged 13Bs, and they're definitly brap brap. I've never heard a rotary go barp. But regardless, that is incredible! And if I didn't care about gas, or reliability, I'd totally do that. What transmission are you using? |

Okay, I concede on the rotary point.
I'm using a gearbox from a gen 5 NA SW20, I didnt really want to switch to the turbo box. I've got my cam timing issues sorted, but that was my other engine that was having the problems. This one is fairly standard, apart from the clutch/flywheel, exhaust, and intake. |

Ya, i know about the LSD
![]() I think shipping from eastern europe to Japan might be a little expensive. Ill keep my eye out here for awhile and if i get desperate, piece together a tranny with LSD. TRD LSD's go for about $250 bucks here used. |

I reckon that's the way to go actually!
The earlier gearboxes had better ratios, IIRC. |

Nah it's just a redtop, but it sounds (vaguely) like a rotary when it's idling.

Roman thats sounds insane! And thats pretty much stock right? With Muffler?
Sounds very much like our blown V8s here in Australia! Cant wait to hear it rev out to 7g!! Youve just given me extra inspiration to get mine running once and for all! |

Aaaah, so you're a stinking Aussie WFX? :P
(Just kidding, a New Zealander here) Yep it is pretty much stock.... It had an apexi pod filter, on an HKS pipe, TOMS extractors, and the cat wasnt in place, so it was running open pipes basically. ![]() Here's a clip of what it sounds like from in the cabin. (Running the factory catalytic converter+muffler, and mods listed above) http://rapidshare.de/files/24821335/rt.mp3.html I might get an exhaust system done at some stage, but... I kind of like that it's dead quiet, until you open up the revs, and then it goes nuts. ![]() It's actually near silent when cruising, the bumpiness of my suspension is the most annoying part of the equation. BTW.... It's great to see a few new beams owners on board! Last edited by Roman; 07-03-2006 at 09:29 AM.. |
