    Hi folks.

Personally, I havent had a chance to Dyno my beams engine yet, but I figure that as more of us eventually get our cars up and running, we can post the results in a thread here.

This first post will serve as a registry for dyno plot information, as it becomes available.

If you wish to post information about dyno results of a beams engine, please use the following format:

    Car owner
    Car type:
    engine type:
    max HP @ RPM
    max torque @ RPM
    relevant mods
A picture of the dyno plot if possible

And any other information deemed relevant.

Ugh, I dont even entirelyknow to be honest!
I know that it's got a MoTec M800, custom pistons, custom rods, modified crank, ported head, very aggressive cams, supra injectors, TRD Altezza headers, Custom oversized throttle bodies (50mm IIRC) and a few other goodies that dont spring to mind.

I also know that this is a very old dyno plot, and that his current car is making more HP than that.

It's quite interesting to see, that between the lowest and highest HP cars, they are all making between 150 and 160 ft lbs of torque.... the only difference being, where on the curve that they made the power.

The key to NA power isnt making more torque, it's pushing the torque further up the rev range.

As you can see the dyno read very very low and I know for a fact that the car is much quicker then 125HP! There were alot of people on the day saying that the dyno read lower so I'm going to get it re-run on a Dyno Dynamics dyno instead and we shall compare!

    Hmmm interesting.

Have you checked your engine for any error codes?
It might be throwing a hissy fit with the wiring etc, there might be a sensor or something it's looking for that isnt there.

Or like you say, a low reading dyno.

Do you have a plot of the torque as well?

What octane gas are you running it on?

I dont understand how they calculate the torque/hp, without knowing the gear ratio, final drive ratio, and rpm.

Entering a slightly wrong final drive ratio can really throw your results either way, as can getting the RPM a little wrong.

I didnt recieve a plot of the torque no and I'm running 98 octane which is as high as we got here. My tacho is currently not working so they cant read that from the guage, do I need to provide gear ratio, final drive ratio, and rpm before I get it dynoed again or should they beable to work it out from there system?

On another quick note RA45's Celica currently makes 180 kws at the back wheels at 8750 rpm on a dyno dynamics dyno in 4th gear. Hope he doesnt mind me posting this here!

Hey WFX, do you have MSN?

The torque output at the wheels is a direct result of wheel size, final drive ratio, gear ratio, transmission losses, and engine torque.

Transmission losses... who cares, power @ the wheels is the only thing that matters

However since the engine torque is multiplied by a factor corresponding to the combination of rolling radius of the wheels, gear ratio and final drive ratio, you need to divide the torque at the wheels by this amount again, to get the correct torque/HP figure.

For example, some MR2 owner here was claiming that their NA sw20 output 600nm of torque, more than a lambourghini, haha. However when you divide that number by the final drive ratio, multiply it by the gear ratio, it became a bit more sensible, haha.

I know that some people assume that 4th gear is a straight 1:1 ratio, however this isnt the case on most FWD transaxles

P.S. Yep I know Celica RA45 is making more power than listed, but it doesnt get put on the list until I've got proof, eg. a revised dyno plot. :P

now i will have to ask him for permission to post his mod list. But i will say that every mod he has, has the little word "Custom" in front of it.

    Its quite impressive.

Here's my dyno results from back in december.
The pics of the results are blurry cos I couldn't get the camera to focus properly LOL.
So you'll just have to take my word for it that I got:-
    154.3BHP
    143.9lbf.ft
    186.5FWHP
    On Shel V Power 99RON
    Nothing to boast about anyway.
She's running pig rich at the top end and the only mod is an HKS drop in filter.
