Track day footage.
Just a short video of me being a **** on track day.
![]() Yes yes, I know that going sideways isnt the fastest way to corner.... But it's damn good fun. :P Definitely learnt heaps about controlling my car at higher speeds, it was a great day out. Definitely learnt heaps throughout the day, about the right lines to take, braking distances, etc. Both videos below are the same, just hosted on Youtube/google. The car ran GREAT, the only problem I had was snapping my shifter cable, with half an hour before we had to leave. I was glad it didnt happen earlier! I got some great track time in. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...99676723559925 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tc-omIy-jyI And a few pics And a few pics ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Roman; 08-04-2006 at 08:44 PM.. |

Hahah yep.
One of the guys didnt get his car ready in time for trackday. (R31 skyline with VH41DE 4 litre quad cam V8!) So everyone was taking him for rides in their cars. He was in the car when I was being silly around the hairpin, I think he got some good shakey cam footage. hehe. There were a few scary moments braking off the end of the straight, I'd never really aggressively braked from 155ish KPH before, into a 80kph ish corner. I spun a few times when I was pushing quite hard early on, but then I decided to take a step back, and just concentrate on taking the right line. Once I got my line sorted, the speed came naturally! Even though it seemed counterintuitive at first. |

Got a little bit more from when it dried out a bit.
For some reason it almost seems to sound rowdier when it's dry. hehe http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...75216000773883 |

I reckon it's all to do with the LSD! It's totally transformed the feel of the car, I dont think I would have even gotten it sideways to begin with if it wasnt for that. I'd reccomend an LSD to *any* MR2 owner... IMO it has made the car WAY more fun. Quote:

![]() I think it's more to do with this: ![]() And the factory intake manifold, makes it sound more 'quad throttley' than a regular cast manifold. Last edited by Roman; 08-07-2006 at 01:16 AM.. |

haha thanks.
Yep I was pleasantly surprised with how it sounds. I'll put a better exhaust system on it one day, but will probably make it so I can just bolt it on for track days etc, rather than having a noisy exhaust all of the time. The brilliant thing about my current setup, is that while you're cruising, it's dead quiet. ![]() When you put your foot up it, it sounds rather rowdy. I'll have some incam shaky footage of it some time next week I'd imagine, it sounds even better from inside the car IMO. ![]() I've got a gen 3 wing for on the rear, which it looks much better with it on IMO. However it currently leaks water into my boot, so I've taken it off for the time being and covered the holes. I repainted my car ages ago (it used to be metallic green) So I gen 3'd it at the same time. ![]() There were soooo many holes to weld up. haha |

roman.....your intake....where is the Air thingy that goes inside of it? I have a Sard setup for my beams and it has (i think an air flow meter) inside of it.

Okay see down the non pod filter end of the pipe?
Behind the small pipe sticking out for the crank case breather pipe, there's a bracket to mount the airflow meter in. Got any pics of your SARD setup? Sounds interesting. ![]() |

Heh, that's an interesting way to do it!
Since I've got some bends in my pipe, I've tried to place it where the airflow is straightest, to minimize turblence etc. to the AFM. Basically that unit is a hot wire airflow meter... It has a thin strip of platinum inside it, which it heats up to a certain temperature with a voltage running through it. When the airflow rushes through the pipe, it cools the wire, and adjusts the resistance of it. It's calibrated to output a voltage between 0-5volts, which it sends to the ECU. Oh and there's also a temperature probe in the unit too, so it can calculate if it's cold air that's cooling the wire, or a larger mass of air flowing through, or a mixture of both. ![]() |
