Hey, I need to find valves, cams, followers, springs, and a timing belt to get my beams motor running. Does anyone have any of these things for sale, or know where i can get them? Thanks

I think it will be cheaper for you to buy another engine
You can use a grey top for those parts , but ild buy a new timming belt

I was afraid of that. Anyone know where i can get one for a good price? All I really need is a complete head with all the internals and a valve cover, but if you have a whole motor you're willing to part with please let me know. I'd like to avoid having to have a head sent out to be milled or to have valves seated etc. Thanks for any help guys.

Greytops make great replacements for redtops. As a long block, they are the same motor.

I considered that one for a cheap beams swap for my mk1. Main problem I have is no time.

If you end up getting that motor, let me know. I might have somebody that will give you a few bucks for the cut beams harness.....if they don't, I will.

ok thanks guys, I think i am going to get it. I asked the seller if it has been compression tested and if its ok for me to come pick up, so i'll see what he says. mr220v ill let you know when (if) i get it.

just making sure... this motor i know only came with auto transmissions hooked to them, I'm not going to have a problem bolting the lsd 5 speed trans from my redtop to it right?

Let me know if you get it.

There are a number of guys on the board using what were originally AT beams motors. It doesn't make any difference. Just transfer all of your redtop parts over to the new motor.

As always, have a look under that cap to make sure the motor is free from sludge.

ok, thanks I think i am actually going to pick it up today, so ill let you know tonight on the wiring harness etc. I am actually going to pull the valve cover while im there to look at it. I called and asked and they said it has good compression and is under 50k miles, so it seems like itll be fine. Ill update tonight

ok, i got the motor sitting in the garage. It doesnt appear to have much of a wiring harness left on it though. it looks like it was cut at all the plugs. sorry mr220v. I've been helping my father finish up our garage, so once it is done i should be able to put this motor in and finally get my duece running.

Are the timing belts for the redtop and the greytop the same?
