got my red top vvti sensor, Woohoo

My engine came with a broker vvti sensor, the seller included a replacement, however he mention it came from a black top, i assumed it was from a rav/caldina

i am leaning that it came from an altezza, lol, so now in the search of a sensor.

I can show the pics and notice its differences, the broken one is the red top its more silver

please let me know if you can help is 15330-74020 the right part no

Why not just see if that one works?

If it does, you got lucky (sort of)

If it doesnt, you're no worse off than your current situation.

it does not fit, the grooves on the tip are different...

So only in japan, who can hook me up? Not like i have a friend living in japan

what would happen if i run it with no sensor

the altezza is 15330-74030, acording to toyo. so thats what i have, will try to plug it in tomorrow, sighs, ugh

I can get parts but if they arent here in Australia you would see it in about 5 weeks.
Im sure that part wont work as the camshaft gear is different.
The engine is designed to have it, running without it defeats the purpose of having the Red Top.

There are usdm available substitutes. 2muchfun had this problem and used one from a Lexus. You might PM him and ask him which one specifically.

I can confirm mr220v, it's available not just from Japan. Mine is for a Lexus as well. I just told the part number in the dealership and they ordered it right away.

This Lexus available part sounded weird to me.
So went over to Lexus to sus it out.
Quoted the part number to them 15330-74020 which is the Red Tops VVTi controller number.
They said it doesnt belong to any Australian delivered Lexus at all. The number is correct and the part is available in Japan. Now the reason for that is the Lexus EPC is connected to the Toyota EPC . If you look closely some of the bolts from the Toyota actually come up as Lexus ( i should know as i have bought a few ).
So the question is which Lexus is it that has the SAME vvti controller ?
Really i dont think there is as they are black tops.
So maybe you could get around the whole issue of USA Toyota not ordering parts maybe through Lexus dealership ?
If that draws a blank sorry but you need to personally import or go through someone who is keeping stock of Beams parts

OH BTW I have yet to see Toyota making a mistake on its part numbers. One part one number.
Another part could/might work but it will be different UNLESS its only an updated number.
So the number 15330-74020 is current and any other number will be different

Sorry I haven't been in the forum today (and also I'm in a different timezone).
The part number is 15330-74020, as Angelo said.
I don't know which Lexus has it, I only had luck back then :S

In 2muchfun's case, he was able to make a different solenoid work...from a vvti 2jzge maybe? He said it had a little bit different spot for the fastening bolt, but was able to drill one that worked.

This would be your cheapest option if you could find one used. New it's probably the same price as what Mandalay has.
