I think it might be a 2 cannister system. I've got a pic of a Departure 1 here
which is two cannister but you can see that the second can is reduced in size. In the pics on Taka Kaira & Phoenix's website there is an oilcooler hanging down obscuring it. Well it appears to be anyway but quite hard to tell from the poor quality pics.

Thats the Departure II system specifically made for Beams applications. The second canister is actually a resonator to muffle sounds. Phoenix power and many other aftermarket companies don't spend R&D money on NA applications which sucks big time. I'm acutally debating on importing one into the US and locals want to get in and split the shipping cost. I want that 2-1 pipe!

My Phoenix Power Exhaust Manifold has been ordered!! Ships out on the 1st of April (Aprils Fool, how nice they better send it haha) and should take less then a week it weighs a mere 9.1kg apprently!

Ive posted some pics of my stock 2-1 piece and yes I know one pipe is dented thats how they arrived with my half cut.

Should I custom design a 2-1 piece thats fits the same size as the phoneix and has the same length as the stock one? OR do I go with a straight 2.5 inch pipe straight from the bottom of the header to the cat? And leave the rest as is 2.5 inch from the cat back!

If it ain't broken then don't fix it

I would highly recommend fabricating the custom 2-1 piece to the proper specs of your new PP headers. I'm sure it designed that way for a reason after all the R&D that was put into it by the Toyota and PP engineers to provide the proper backpressure and air flow. Its imperiative that an NA application has this working in its favor. On the otherhand turbo charged application is where you will gain due to larger diameter piping and unrestricted air flow.

BTW if you decide to get rid of the OEM 2-1 pipe I'll be willing to send you some $ for it

If I was to design a 2-1 piece to fit the header how do I know the length of the 2 piece before it goes into 1 piece? Do I make it the same length as the stock piece or try and get some photos/measurements of the Phoenix 2-1 piece?

doggyDCW: To my door in Perth, Australia via EMS (within 1 week shipping) it was $1100 AUD including customs tax!

I shall have photos and specs for everyone up here when it arrives!

have someone mandrel-bend you two pieces of pipe that run from the header to the flex-pipe and then halve them at the tips (around 8 inches out) where they would meet up with the flex-pipe, weld the halved tips together and run them into the flex-pipe flange....do install a resonator from Vibrant http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...3fe3828a901ac8
somewhere past the flex-pipe...
you will flow ALOT more so you will need some back-pressure if you dont wanna loose all your bottom end grunt!

Man, just when I'm about to sell my car and this comes up....I've been looking for more details on this header for the LONGEST time (ever since I saw a picture of a UK owner's car which has the PP header on).

Definitely let us know how much hp/performance gain the header will provide.

Trust me, I really don't want to sell the car after I poured in so much money in it. I guess it's just time to move on to something newer. Just can't justify putting anymore money into the 2 anymore....

Been driving it a lot lately, trying to enjoy every last moment with it. I never thought I'd been letting it go and it feels like losing a part of my life... Took the t-tops down yesterday and today to cruised around town, the engine feels so great and the transmission is so smooth. I'm sure the next owner will enjoy the car as much as I do...

Ok got some good news and some bad news! The good news is that the manifold bolts directly to the original 2-1 piece, bolt holes line up as well as bolt holes for brackets to motor line up perfectly! So will no doubt just take my 2-1 piece away and get it remade exactly the same so it will bolt together nicely.

The bad news is that the manifold at the entrance does not bolt up and the holes are WAY off!! Assuming they sent me the right manifold for the BEAMS motor does anyone know if the MR2 bolt holes are different on the BEAMS, as this is designed for the MR2?

I guess for myself I may have to end up cutting the plate off and realigning the pipes to a new bracket (or the exisiting one) so it fits! Any ideas?

Oh yeah and some photos of the pieces side by side:

what the hell????????????

phoenix one looks way wider than the OEM piece, what did they send you FFS??

do the exhaust ports from the head actually line up with the manifold runners?

i'd say just have some ears welded on to the plate thats already on the phoenix piece to match up with the bolt holes (cut existing ears off and weld similar material/steel pieces on and bore/cut them to the right specs...) then have the plate shaved down to make it perfectly flat again....welding causes warping....

hey take a pic with the two manifolds placed plate to plate so i can see how much off those holes are....thats really really odd that they dont match up

AFAIK the MR2 BEAMS head is the same as the ST202 BEAMS head, this looks like either a 3SFE or 5SFE plate

edit: maybe non-beams 3SGE???
re-edit: that makes no sense, non-beams 3SGE has the same head as the 3SGTE doesnt it? that plate matches up perfect with 5SFE, i should know, i used it on my 5SFE-Turbo project....

I wonder if they sent you the 3rd Gen 3sge instead. The header flange looks way off. Did you verify the part # on the box to the web site?

hmmm, can't imagine why the the celica beams and the mr2 beams head would be different?!?!?!.
Well, I know what I would be doing right now - boxing that thing up and sending it back to Japan! Then telling them to send me one that fits!

All beams manifolds are the same stud pattern/etc... Even between RWD and FWD, celica, MR2, altezza etc.

I'm running a celica engine with MR2 manifolds, and an MR2 engine with Altezza manifolds.

Dont chop that manifold up, send it back! Get them to send you the correct one, you didnt pay all that money for something that's ****ed.

Ok they say that if they sent the wrong items they pay full postage for returns so Ive sent them a email and will wait till they reply, hopefully this week!

On a side note Ive compared the manifold with my old 5SFE one and they dont match either so maybe its a 3SGE/3SGTE one? What you cant see on the pictures is that there is 2 bolt holes on the bottom middle compared to one for the BEAMS.
