I HATE these guys that hijack our threads and quote Honda. Gee i never go to a Honda forum and tell them that there is nothing special about their engines and l have a Beams.

It's nice of him to revive a lagging thread because for a moment there I was experiencing the turbo lag of a t78...LOL

Thanks to all my fellow Beams and board members for getting my back ;P

JDMsw20, do you notice any added weight or lag from that turbo transmission on the BEAMS? Is the weight worth it for LSD?

I never had the Beams tranny on so I could'nt make an actual comparaison. I dropped in the turbo tranny because I had it lying around and needed to move the car from point A to point B around the shop and driveway/

I will eventually be swapping back to the Beams tranny w/ LSD with lightened flywheel and changing out 4th and 5th gears with a Solara to achieve better acceleration and higher top speed higher end.

Just curious, (and I don't want to be involved in that arguement on page 1), in terms of Beams vs 3sgte, what makes you prefer a Beams as the best stock engine for the MR2?

FYI, my intention here is to learn (noob and all), not to argue

Thanks!

I just wanted to try something different for my final SW20 project and go all motor this time around. The Gen3 was quickly becoming a big money pit with all those supporting mods. I had too much to worry about with the turbo set up and was really worry I would blow up the motor since I have a lead foot .

In actuality I can't really make a direct comparison just yet since I haven't full ran the new set up yet. In a nut shell I was looking for uniqueness and reliability w/o breaking the wallet. The idea of having the power without the waiting for spool up really sold me in the end. My style of driving is more about being able to control the car than just go fast in a straight line.

turboing a beams motor take a lot of work. You have to rebuild most of the engine. If you want turbo, it would be better to just go with a regular 3sgte
