BEAMS Coolant temp sensor...
Hello Fella,
Is there anyone can source the coolant temp sensor for our beams engine the one for mr2 since the hotter it get the lower the voltage not like the celica go backward. Also it is a 3 prongs plug not 2 or 1. If you able to get your hand on one can you help a beams fellow out here and ship it to U.S :-) of course payment will be through paypal or wire transfer... |

I'm in a problem with this one as well
I thought it's working wrong but now I think it's fine and it looks like the MR one do work else as the Celica one. If you detach the plug from the sensor, you can see that the ECU gives 5V to it and the sensor reduces this value as heat grovs. One thing I don't understand: The RedTop wiring diagram that can be found on the net shows this sensor having 2 pins only, while it do has 3! What's the third one for? And why this diagram doesn't show it? midnite, I searched the EPC and it gives 3 different part numbers for this sensor, all for MR and all made from 97.12., so I don't know which one is the needed one :S |

this is what i found... yellow-green wire is for the dash gauge 10sometihng volt... poooh color is ground... and black-red is ecu... when the problem occur of no start when hot the volt drop below .2v to like .17 and when working normal operation temp is at .4 and cold at 1.27v or something like that... But i do need this damn because i have to turn on my engine fans for like 5mins when it happen to beable to start her kinda annoying hahah :-)

Normal operation is 0.5-0.6V, 0.4V can be good too, but the 0.2 and 0.17V values means that your sensor measures a great heat. Since you put the engine in an AW11 (SW11 for now
) with a quite small engine bay (I still don't understand how did you manage to fit it ) it's possible that the engine becomes this much overheated when you turn it off, so your sensor migth be working well :S |

people fit a 3sgte in there and that thing is way bigger this one fit with room to spare... I don't think engine bay over heat is the problem since i have the supercharge lid and it vent pretty well. For NA heating not an issues compare to turbo where it get really hot after shut off....

Easy go to Toyota quote the number above and order ?
Where are you ? If your local Toyota hasnt got the number on file you get them to put it one. Thats what they do in Australia. Theoretically your Local Toyota can get all the Beams parts they just have to put them on file. Find someone who is willing to help you . For me i needed 100's to ne put on and they did but i did stetch their patience. That where a constant supply of Jack Daniels goes a longggggggggg way, but at the end after > 1000 parts they gave up. But l did open it up for any Aussie wanting a Beams part as they are all on file now ![]() Then again save yourself the hassel you can have my spare delivered anywhere for $25 USD |
