Pics of my beams harness

Here are a few pictures of the harness I make for the beams. This particular harness was based off of a badly cut beams engine harness and is for a 91 mr2:

http://69.15.41.214/mr2/beam****s/beamsharness2.jpg

http://69.15.41.214/mr2/beam****s/beamsharness3.jpg

Notice the adapter plug for the ecu plug on the mr2 body harness. There's also a power connection for the msd tach adapter most people use.

Here's where the harness was cut originally:

If you supply the tape, you can have whatever color you want.

^That's your harness btw.

I wouldn't worry about the colored tape. It usually picks up dirt and looks terrible after a while. There's no good way to clean it either.

I know and I was joking about the colored tape. Having it all red look look awful in my opinion.

hey mr220v, been meaning to ask you since for > ever....

can I wire my OBD plug right up close to the ECU? As in splice it into the proper wires right by the ECU? Are there any specific wires I should be splicing into, or is it just all about splicing right into the correct/matched colour-coded wires?

ODBII connection , (Im not sure if this what You are asking for)

According wiring diagram ODBII on this car have pin-out :

16 +BAT
4 Ground
7 SIL (signal from Ecu)
9 Taco
15 not used

according ISO 9141 :

7 ISO 9141 K line , bidirectional connection
15 ISO 9141 L line , optional, unidirectional connection to ECU

Adding an obd2 connector is not hard to do. Unfortunately with the beams ecu, and any other jdm quasi obd2 ecu, the obd scanner is on a different standard. So, in order to scan the port, you'll need a JDM scanner.

You still get CEL blinking codes by grounding the TC pin.

hey thanks to the both of you! I guess I could have figured out that one on my own, feel kinda dumb now....I had seen that DLC plug, not sure what the hell it was.... That TC pin is on the OBD plug too? If not I kinda feel like adding it there so I can stat the car easily...
SIL is the blinking lamp right? Might try to add LED there so I can stat from there too, remove it from the dash.
What you guys think about that?

Sil is the data line for the obd2 scanner.

TC is what you ground to get the CEL to blink

W is the output to the CEL.

DUH! Is not what I am asking, I suspect my wires are not 100% same colour, hence why I ask to double check everyone else before I go splicing....
