I can't setup another Fob - help plz

1999 year Rev 5 Beamsy Hardtop JDM

Trying to code another fob to it, BUT

Has remote locking, but don't know the type, thought it was TVSS IIIB but may not be, can't find any references and the ecu under the drivers seat doesn't seem to be the same as usdm mr2 systems (obviously)

There is no disernable identification marks on it.

Tried three methods now and nothing :-(

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

to ad, current fob is 2 button, has open and lock, when you click lock twice the horn beeps once.

um, toyota fobs are supposed to be backwards compatable so the one I'm trying to synch should work, but thus far, there is no setting button on the ecu, and the process of opening closing the doors doesn't work, can anyone enlighten me :-)

bump!

Just thought to add, there are different types, especially between JDM and USDM throughout the options and revs.

Any one here whom understands the rev5 jdm system?

Eagerly awaiting the few :-)

Man if i could help i would. you got VIN number and ill try.
My car is Aussie delivery , so for me its easy just give them the vin and they will get me a new one after showing proof of ownership , rego papers.
I think that will be the hard one.
You may want to post on the audio section maybe someone has past experience

Thanks for the comments Mandalay, very noobie question but where do I get the vin (which specific serial I mean)

thing is I sourced what I though was a compatable remote key, but maybe I've thrown away a little money :-( It was suppsoed to be a new key for my cars b-day hehe, bought her on my b-day last year, she's a 1999, and so she'll be 10? lol

Damn remote

These JDM keys are a pain, walked on over to the other forums and it seems they really are a pain.

will post up some pics tomorrow if that may help

Thumbs up

Update!!

now none of my fobs work....

Edit: suppose I should elaborate, I have been following instructions for different and similar systems online, it was also suggested to me that i try to find the celica, mr2, and corolla guidance documents on this.
but anyhow, I took a good look at the ecu under the driver seat, unpluuged it as I needed to open the plastic box to see if there were any activation buttons ectetc, now no fobs/remotes work ....darn

I suppose a blown fuse? will check them all, can anyone guide me in the right direction?

Mandalay, do you know of any instructions for resetting the remote locking ecu?

Thanks

Yup yup big differences and its a PITA system.

Please email my friend Akira: info@meiyuservice.com. He has hand built a handful of these systems to use in the US cars as almost none came with it here. He will most def. be able to answer any of your questions. Just tell him Servin from the OC referred you.

Thanks Servin, will do!

If I find out a work around or a good method for working with this system I will write up a post on it.

May try disconnecting the battery, make sure all fuses are ok, and all the leads are in, then "maybe" my first remote will work again lol
