Well, I got my 70 amp alternator and going to take the car into the shop sometime soon. I hope it is the alternator because the labor is probably going to be expensive. That thing is heavy though. Gotta be around 35-40 lbs.

? Cant you install the alternator yourself. Its easy unless your bolts are all rusted and jammed

I don't have the time nor the inclination to remove and reinstall the alternator. If it's easy then I trust my mechanic will not screw me over on labor. He's an mr2 guy so it should go pretty smooth.

Sin will knock that sucker out quick! The worse part of it is being on your back, but he has the lift. IIRC the secret is to drop the cross member slightly to get it out or just mount it in the SSIII position like I did .

Really doing this SC setup , you have to wonder why Toyota didnt put the alternator in the MR2 in the Celica position. **** it would have saved the weight of that anchor they call the altrernator bracket

My thoughts are the wanted to keep it lower to keep overall center of gravity low. Just like porsche moves thier brake calpiers down low and towards the center of the car. every bit helps.

Good call but the celica bracket is about one tenth the weight of the MR2 one.
