Im going to get my pistons ordered this week also.
What C/R did you go for ?
Have you rebored your block ? If so did they remeasure the cylinder walls before making the pistons ?
What rings are you using ?
Also cant tell from photo ( unwrap one man ) did they just remove material from top centre ?
Also did they supply the gungon pin and is it shorter in length .
A side by side photo would be great.
PM me is you need any torque spec's

what the heck is "gungon" ??

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH SHINY SHINIES!!!1

OEM BOV might be easier than routing BOV ---> turbo inlet on your own, remember if you will be using MAF you will need to route the BOV outflow ahead of the MAF.
Custom ECU indicates you will most likely be using MAP....in which case you can get a 'Super Sound' BOV & get more chicks than MANDALAY will ever have because Spooling & BOV noises gets you all the ladies.

Honda Type-R gets you nothing.

Win.

All hail BEAMS-tron.

It's looking good!

You're probably going to need bigger injectors as well for that kind of power but you could probably get away with some 3sgte ones so either 440 or 550, but ultimately you just map until you run out of fuel. Are they beams specific pistons or 3sgte?

Regards,

Nik

^ yeh what process did you undertake in ordering the pistons ?
If you start getting really technical which im anal about ( being a chemist )
Silicon content of the pistons need to be taken into consideration when deciding clearances.
Why 9.0 and not 9.5 like Phoenix,

? thought Dave 's were 9.5 ?
Ive bought SARD 550 cc's . They are exactly the same as the Red Top's only bigger volume , bigger openings but the same number. BTW the Caldina Turbo ST246 has the same injectors so you might want to see if you can find some second's if you like

When I initially made the order, I put 9.0 comp and then I changed my mind after a few days to go with 9.5 comp. Well they emailed me and said sure no problem and then when I got them in they were 9.0 with a note in there saying they didn't get the memo in time for the change so they are 9.0. comp.

Hence why I sold them

Actually I am considering a 10 comp for my turbo setup but I want to do some more research before doing that. I still want to retain my low end and I am not looking for a dyno queen high horsepower turbo setup, I want a well balanced machine even if that means losing a little top end with the turbo and keeping a good bottom end.

So yeah, I think it was worth it to sell them and lose a few bucks to get what I really want.

Just FYI, I am doing a few things this summer with my car so I won't be doing the swap just yet, but I am still slowly putting it together. Should start the swap after I get all the pieces in October when I have settled down a little bit (i am wanting to do a few road rally's this summer). a 2100 square foot shop is in the works right now on my parents land so I am kinda waiting on that too. (sorry for thread jacking)

Guys, maybe go LOW impedance on the injectors, they tend to be more precise, VERY VERY IMPORTANT, especially if you are an ANAL-CHEMIST like say.....MANDALAY...

get FJO Racing Products - Injection Driver to drive low impedance RC Eng injectors.
Can any of you race-car guys chime in on this? I keep hearing low impedance > high impedance.

Soooo 'gudgon pin' is the wrist-pin on the piston I assume?

Hey MANDALAY, Si content, really??? That's what is keeping you from finishing??? Really?! How about tuning the engine, whatever pistons, right and not blowing it up on first run.....wouldn't you wanna worry more about that than the Si content on a piston???? LOL!
I get it though, different Si content as in any other element will cause a difference in expansion rate....don't sweat that too much.
I majored in Chem & Mech engineering and I am no where near that anal LOL!!

what turbo manifold is that? Looks like snake-pit. I can't recall the exact shape/look of our RedTop exhaust manifolds, but it's not like that is it?

I guess that you friend is named Ian, that he lives in the highlands in scotland and the setup you got from him consist of mitsubishi td05 20G turbo, stainless oil feed and oil return line, custom manifold (with poor welding skills), 2.5'' custom dowpipe, HKS external wastegate and screamer pipe

isn't it?

Almost spot on...it's a td06 that is being changed to a td05,internal wastegate and moding the manifold to suit...the welding isn't pretty but that can be dressed
