I choose the SC so as to not loose the appeal of the Beams. As such all the Rotrex converted owners of MK3's say the engine behave the same only that it feels like a 4 litre engine. The SC is gradual increase unlike the mad limited rush of a turbo. Personally if you want a turbo would have gone for a stock 3sgte.
But if it pleases you cool just read all the threads associated with turboing a stock engine and you have everything. All the stocks i have read have blown up for one reason or another |

Fuel pump & Injectors is what I will yell at you about. Upgrade pump for sure, either 3SGTE pump or a Walbro 255. You will need an FPR unit both for managing the pressure during boost and off-boost. You can go the uprated injectors route, but that would require the ECU to be tricked and/or piggy-backed and/or different controlling unit. I am not so sure if your OEM pistons/rods/rings/ringlands will be so happy if you plan to make 240HP all the time.....giving some room for boost spikes.... |

we are not all master tuners....lots of trial and error still going on here. I don't think we have a single BEAMS owner that actually knows what the limits are so far. I roll with lots of Honda boys, ring-lands seem to be the weaker point often times with compression ratios lowered & all else OEM. This is with simple tuning, not 100s of hours on the dyno that we can't afford. Higher compressions & turbo with-not-so-perfect timing, tuning & fueling can get hazzardous quickly. 8psi or less *can* be *safe*-ish, just keep the fueling right....q.e.d. higher flow pump & related FPR, possible injectors & piggyback |

mid-life crisis? ![]() TD05 is nice, which one exactly? Turbo can be a better choice than constantly going for the NOS gas....NOS can get expensive as well....plus when it runs out, its out. hehehehe 7psi should be manageable, I wonder about the MAF as well, of course it has to sit in front of the turbo's inlet & blow-off should feed in here as well....or so the story goes with MAF's. Your success might cause me to go ahead with my turbo build up as well. I'm currently on the fence about it because I feel as though the mildly modded BEAMS I have is enough for my Celica's purposes.....plus I tend to run out of road at about 200km/h, not to mention the island surface itself runs out on me....getting to 200km/h quicker might be fun though....lotsa of Integras, RSX's, WRX's & select others already have issues keeping up with me sooooo....maybe I should go after the fast boys now? ![]() with 7 to 8psi you should get a decent 50HP gain with the proper additional mods, and be reliable too, I think you might be able to get to that 240 HP at the wheels... |

same issue I was having when I had my 5S-FE Turbo'ed. Killer amount of wheel spin, seriously annoying in the rain when you are not attempting to spin the hell out of your tires, I went with wider tyres, no help, I probably needed some seriously soft rubber & 225-up section tires to eliminate all wheel spin...
I see your point ![]() |

Nominating you #1 senior member of this BEAMS board.....I *think* most of us are young-guns here......
I applaud you for not going the Corvette/American V8 route for your midlife crisis ![]() |
