InTune Performance who is south of the river originally wired it up for me so worst case scenario I need to see him again. |

Over the weekend I adjusted the idle valve and throttle cable so the car idles without stalling. I've got it down to about 1200rpm but will need to fine tune slightly to try and make it 900rpm, its doable its just very touchy as you go too low and it stalls!
I have also calibrated a few guages but just need to do the speedo and tacho now. Speedo I will need to wait till the exhaust is done as I need a stretch of 4km to calibrate it correctly and currently the car is way to loud to drive even at 3am! Tacho I played with on the weekend but I can't seem to get it to read the right signal... might be a MOTEC thing I need to look at, hmmmm. Below is a photo of the 3" mid section of my exhaust which was originally done by InTune Performance. I'm actually thinking about taking out the custom muffler that they designed and fitted as it seems to be too restrictive for the car after about 5000rpm. The car stutters and lurches as its climbing up the revs and after looking at what the internal structure of the muffler is makes me think its definately not the right design for this motor. ![]() I bolted my 2.5" mid section exhaust piece on which has a cat installed and the motor runs smoothish but is WAY louder! I'm thinking the BEAMS really doesnt like small pipes, it seems the more smaller the pipe the louder the sound. Anyone else had this issue with their motors? So this custom muffler I shall replace with a piece of 3" pipe and a CAT instead.... And see how we go then! |

i had a bit of trouble with the note and volume of sound of my exhaust.
I swapped my straight through magnaflow muffler for a X-force Varex muffler. It gives you control over how loud you want your car. I dont want to sound like im flogging thier products but i think its the way to go. When your driving on the streets and you want to just cruise, its quieter than standard and when you want it fast and loud it is just that ![]() Im just going to swap my resonator from a hotdog style to a Vibrant Performance ultra quiet resonator. im hopeing that will take the rasp out of the sound. Here's some info on the muffler XForce - Performance Exhaust Systems |

Well ive lost count on the number of Remus exhausts ive bought over the years , more than 8. Iove the sound, no drowning hum at all Drive it slowly and hardly noticable, Fang it and its so sweet. Expensive thou. Oh BTW NEVER been pulled over by the cops for loud exhaust and have also gone throew the pits at vic roads and no problem
![]() Alsoi run a stainless steel high flow cat. The core is pretty much standard and the just weld the correct flanges to it based on the original cat size. Might be worth to go and see your local Remus outlet and have a listen. As you know i run std exhaust manifold and b-pipe |

Vibrant Performance for me lads.....steet quiet.....I'm with my car at the moment, I'll try and youtube it for sound for you guys....
WAYNO sounds like lightweight flywheel.....my buddy just switched back to his OEM Honda flywheel because lightweight Fidanza one was causing annoying stalls either from letting off the gas suddenly or too low idle or the tip-in surge when you blip the throttles... On a side note TRD Gauges look wicked WAYNO, thanks again! |

no i set up waynes idle over here ,but with my pipes as waynes is not tuned to his yet and i also recleaned his throttles ,so they might be re seating them self and he will have to get it back to 900 much easier in a rwd car than what wayne has to get done ,but he will over come it

how much does your 5th gen celica weigh?
so you said the rev limit for your engine is 8,800 rpm. do the itb's alow it to rev that high or is it the internals that alow such high reving. would your engine with a c-one computer produce even more power from the redtop? |

Yeah because of the position of the throttle cable its actually REALLY difficult to make changes in the slightest of movements but time and patience will get this right in the end.
Picking up my adjusted exhaust system end of the week too so will fit and report back when I know more. Not sure what the car weighs currently. When the car was completely stripped it weighed 1130kg however I'm adding a bulk of fibreglass work to it now so I'm sure that weight will climb pretty quick. The weight I'm adding to the back of the car (ie my sub box) actually helps me keep traction on the corners (being FWD) so small price to pay I suppose but then again its not a dedicated track car! The weight I'm adding to it ![]() ![]() ![]() I'd dare say its the internals that make it rev to 8,800+ rpm and I'm running a MOTEC currently so pretty sure its the best ECU to tune the motor by all means try and find out yourself thou, thats what were hear for after all! |

well disconnect the cable from the throttles and then set the idle when its hot and its only the quad that has the cable disc on it as well ,all the rest will follow
