Is their any real benefit in doing that? Like do the bell housings make that much difference or is it to do with something else?

With a fair bit of mucking around.
Had to weld some new tabs on the manifold at the bottom, and reshape the ports, drill some new holes, blah blah. Few hours work I guess. Also grind out some recesses for where the injectors go, which are obviously on a different angle to beams head. Not too sure how well it goes yet, cos I need some new spark plug leads, and the cam cover gasket is leaking ![]() Is on a gen 2 3SGE. |

Peaople go on about cold air intakes, but what good is this, if your manifold is 80 degrees celcius! lol! Beams motor has rubber isolater from the block at the base, and the mounting tabs at the top are rubber insulated too. So stays way WAY cooler, and the manifold is a much more efficient design. ACIS is a nice feature, but dunno if it outweighs the downsides on the whole. Either way, this cost me about $60 NZD in total to do, as I already had the manifold etc lying around. Did it for curiositys sake as much as anything else, I guess. |

The auto is actually surprisingly... not bad.
It's atrociously awful when you drive it in 'D' but if you set it in manual, and keep it in 1st 2nd or 3rd as required, it's actually quite responsive. Will be interesting to see how it goes on the track. After driving it for a bit, I dont think it's going to be as much of a disadvantage as I first thought it would be. Am also gonna have some semislicks this time around... My beams car kept overheating street tires, is what was holding it back from quicker times ![]() Also fitted up the beams muffler and a decat pipe, cos I had them laying around gathering dust/insects/etc. |

I would have thought it would be easier to use a gen1 3sge manifold. I'm sure the beams manifold is better, but if the only object is to get everything off the top of the head, the gen1 just bolts up I believe.

Yep, no doubting that it would have been easier...
Used the beams manifold cos I had it lying around though. And no SRK special intake unfortunately, just some air conditioning ducting, haha. |

while its running the flowing air keeps it cool only slight advantages could be gain by using phenolic gaskets on all the mounting tabs i think youe set up will look over 9000 times better if you paint the rocker cover red to match and clean up the engine bay |

I've taken the car for a quick run and then checked intake manifold temps with standard one, always hot. Especially with the 'coolant' lines running through the throttle body!
Yeah definitely needs a clean up, Over the last few days working in the engine bay, I've had several people mistake me for the Captain of the Exxon Valdez. Will most likely paint the whole lot black or something if anything, rather than red. |
