Alright so I got a 91 MkII NA automatic trans. and the transmission wont shift into first. if I manually shift it it'll do fine. Only when I shift into 2nd itll go into 3rd gear, so I have to redline it. and I dont wanna have to keep doing it on an almost 20 year old engine. anybody know whats up?

oh and sometimes it wont shift into overdrive even when its warmed up

its a auto haha jk autos are to complicated but maybe stall converter but i dont realy know

I thinking its the transmission. It could be a bad solenoid thats screwing with the shifting.My best bet would to get a remanufacture transmision.If you keep red lining, you're going to have more than a transmission issue.
