mk1 rear wing

i saw a pic once of a mk1 wing the owner had hacked off the middle support, i thought it made quite a difference visually. cleaned it up alot at least

anyone else done this ? was it as simple as it sounds ?

there is a mod called the "Plumley wing mod". the spoiler in the picture is NOT a Plumley wing. the Plumley wing is actually a bit different and lends itself to actual aerodynamic improvement over stock wing placement.

if you cut the center stanchion off while leaving the side stanchions intact, well i don't know if you'd experience the warble or not at higher speeds. with a Plumpley mod you would experience warble. i actuall did a mod to the Plumley mod which helps to alleviate most of the warble/wobble at higher speeds.

as for ease, i wouldn't know without knowing you fabrication ability(ies). i've done quite a few Plumley modded wings now and would NOT do it for free at all. in order to do it correctly, there's lots of work that needs to be done!

yeah, i was wondering how rigid it would be with no centre support too

do you have any pics of these "plumley modded" wings ?

any on here : rearspoilers

cheers

and my fabrication abilities are minimal at best, but the 'scar' would be on the underside of the wing so i guess it doesnt have to be perfect
