4Beam low rise headlight kit

Hi, I open a new thread, because I won't spam this thread --> which would you choose

I copy the most important data from the "which would you choose" thread in this new one

the complete kit

the different to the orig. MR2 headlights

some pics from different MR2

the different between the revision6 and the 4beams

rpm8200 wrote (december 2005)

Yo hi @all... I'm the guy who designed, develloped and produced those "4beams" that have been mentioned by theGerman (he's a good pal).

I already completed and sold some sets of 4Beams for the European market.

The system is compatible to all MR2 W2, W20 (SW20,21,22) built between 1990 and 1999, no matter if the car is equiped with an electronic to regulate the distance that is illuminated by the headlamps or not (normally in US Your cars don't have any electronics to do so).

Besides this, I spent a year (more than 1000 hours of work!) to devellop and design the kit to meet the customers requirements regarding easy assembly, everyday life fitness, quality and appearance/ look. Besides this it had to meet the requirements of the German TUV, that has an critical eye on anything somebody could do with his car. Another criteria has been to assure, that no "hard modifications" have to been done to the chassis or any original Toyota-part (no cutting, no drilling -> its a completely "bolt-on" solution). So the 4beams can be exchanged by the original Headlamps or any other solution without a trace and (more important) without any extra costs for spare parts. I wrote a detailed manual to assemble the kit (would surely translate it for US-Versions). Up to now I don't know about any problems with my 4beams kit.

I planed to deliver it also to the US, because the Prototypes and the Forms to build the parts are now ready to use and it would be a pitty (and economically wrong) not to use it.

Unfortunately, I cannot accept orders for the kit right now. The problem is, that I don't do this as a full-time-job. Well, it is more than just a hobby but it's not enough (by far!) to cover my living-costs. I am a student and most time is reserved to study. The last few months I have been develloping some parts in carbon-fibre for the AudiR8 LeMans Prototype in corporation with a small racing-company that is working together with Audi. This Project "consumes" all time I have left at the moment.

I hope I can finish some of the kits during February and/or March. I've got term holidays in that time and the Audi-project should be completed then. I would post in this forum once again, if there are some kits available. The price would be about 400 -500 $ including the shipping to the US. The price is dependent on the exchange-course and on the shipping- costs. I don't know, how much is a Revision6 Kit in US? I don't know, if You will have extra costs (taxes?).

If there are any further questions feel free to ask, I will look around this forum time by time.

06-10-2006 I post the update

I read in our german board, Matthias is thinking about a new series of his 4beams, now he is checking how great is the interest. A lot german guys are interested and I remember thats some of you was interested too. The time when he starts his new series is as the moment unknown - at present he checks the interest

06-11-2006 update by rpm8200

For all guys from US: You are welcome to show me Your interest (according to 4Beams) by sending me an eMail. You can find my eMailAddy here homepage (push the red email button). By doing so, it is much easier for me to contact You if there's something going on. At the moment I am unable to announce a specific date or period of time to start a new series. There are some details to check before. If there will be a new series this year (at the moment I rate the chance for that at 60%), it will probably be started at the end of july, having a couple of sets ready to ship within aprox. 2 months. The price for the set is not calculated yet but regarding the weak $ against the strong euro I think it is realistic about 400-500$ (including the costs for the shipping).

by the way - 4beams for the mk1 are at the moment non-scheduled

so thats it

topic of the mail should be: that you are interested at the 4beams, your name, your nickname at the board and that you are a member of the mr2board

I think it's a good idea - everyone who send Matthias a mail, posts his nickname here in this thread, so there is no chance, that anyone will be forgotten

for example

1 Ncturnal
2 ...
3 ...
4 ...

I forgot -

the orig. MR2 headlights opening complete about 19-20cm

the 4Beams about 11-12cm

the 4beams are no sleepy eyes kit, they are a complete new headlight kit

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

for the mk1 drivers, I think you mean this one, thats no 4beam set

it's no complete kit for the mk1, only the headlights, if you want to know how he made them fit for the mk1 - feel free to ask him, his user name in our forum is BTKDS

the easiest way - post your questions in this thread http://www.mr2forum.de/thread.php?threadid=14469&page=8 and I'm sure, he will help you

go to the end of the page, and push at the right corner "antworten"

If I could afford it right now I would consider it but not at this time, I'm sure they are worth every penny though.

Wow, thats an awesome set of lights! Wish I could rake out that kind of dough for aesthetic looks, but I can't. Damn!

Tell you the truth, if you lower this price, you will not only gain interest, but gain in sales too. I would definitely go for this if it was around the $325 shipped range.

there is no chance

I paid last year 405$ include shipping intra Germany

Matthias check at the moment only the interest, at the german board about 10 guys interested, at the other US Board is a thread about the beams too, but I'm no member there and I don't know how great the interest there is

Matthias is one person who developed the complete Kit, he must thrust out the complete material costs - the price (400-500$) he wants is absolute okay

are there any pictures that show night time visibility? i am curious as to how well this kit will light up the road at night. i am a bit iffy on the price also but i might think about it if it were $400 or in the low 400's and whether or not there is an improvement on visibility

^what he said... if there is a decent improvement on visibility.. I'll be a taker for the 400 to 450 range.. a little steep.. but the looks are pretty decent.. even though i'd much rather ditch the flips.. but it kinda comes with the mr2 and i think it would be a bit more to get the flips removed totally..

the visibility is as good as the visibility from the orig. headlights, some say they 4beams are better, no one who has incorporated the beams mean that the visibility is worse

picture from the night time visibility I have never seen, I think the best way, send Matthias a mail with all your questions

There is a guy on Ebay selling the same type of dual headlight conversion. I see it all the time. Much cheaper, under $100.00 including shipping I believe. Although you have to hand crank your headlights to the desired height. Do an MR2 parts search and check it out.

if you are interested - don't forget to send Matthias a mail, so that he can put you on his list and no you don't have to buy the 4beams when you are on the list, it's only that it is sure that you will get one pair.
When the new series starts, I think Matthias will ask you, if you are still interested and he will tell you than the price
