85>87 rotor upgrade

i plan on driving my 85 daily. i have no intentions of hot rodding it. just want to cruise. it has the stock rotors and calipers.

i have access to an 89 with the rotors and calipers.

if i understand correctly, all i have to change is the rotors and the caliper mounting bracket.

is this correct?

second, i have a perfectly good set of 4 rotors, (2 front/2rear) rotors off an 85.

as a daily driver, is it worth changing the rotors knowing i have a comlete set of rotors if i need them, or would the 89 rotors be better?

thanks for any info.

Yep, thats all you have to change. I just did this a few days ago with Napa rotors, 87+ brackets, Russel SS lines, ATE super blue fluid, and Axxis Ultimate pads... DEFINATELY worth it IMO,the difference is night and day.

My Google Map

that is the minimum you will need but if you want the backing plate for legal reasons you will need more parts and it is a lot more work.

You know, everyone said that all you had to change was the rotors and mounting brackets, but I had caliper clearance issues when converting my 86. Luckily, I also had some 87+ calipers and ended up switching those as well. Perhaps it was user-error, lol.

That said, the car brakes much better now. Definitely an improvement.
