New brake pads and fluid w/standard rotors - SUGGESTIONS NEEDED
I need to replace my brake pads today, so i figured i'd do my fluid too. I need to know what kind of pads you guys would reccommend (mainly used on street, but i want something that won't fade easily even under high speed/high temp stops something you could almost take to a track... so if anyone has used something and can reccommend it, i'll go get it, cos i don't want stock pads in her anymore.
Also whats a good type of fluid to use with stock braking system that won't boil.. |

ok having read a bit around here it seems EBC Green stuff are the go but...I've just phoned the local supplier and they only make them for the fronts!?! So i'm going with a "Heavy Duty" compound on the rears (which are the reason i'm doing the brakes anywho)
Does this seem weird? I know the fronts do the majority of the braking anyway but it seems odd not to have matched pads... |

Check out twosrus.com. They have Porterfield R4S brake pads for $75 fronts, $75 rear.
Do a search on Porterfield brake pads, I've heard good stuff about them but have never used them. As for brake fluid, I would go to the local parts store and pick up the brake fluid that has the highest wet boiling point, especially if its for 90% street use. If your tracking the car, then its a different story. |

DOT5.1 fluid has a very high boiling point and is NOT fully synthetic like its brother DOT5.
Motul makes a nice 5.1 fluid , theres ATE super blue which is nice, and Wilwood makes a very nice fluid as well. If you want more even braking try getting a more aggressive brake pad in the rear with a good pad up front. something like the EBC up front and porterfields in the rear. This will balance the car out a bit better under hard braking. --Steve |
