Anyone interested in some custom coilovers for the aw11?
Hey guys, thanks for the welcome. This is my first post here on the forum, and I am glad I found it. Anyways, I came on here because I started working on my AW11 that has been sitting for years. I use to be a VW guy, and started working on my project. I am currenly upgrading the suspension on it, and I am not fond of D2, and some of the other offerings I have found for our AW11 cars. To each there own. I thought there would have been a ton of offerings like the VW golf crowd, but that wasn't the case. Anyways, I ran into a friend back from high school like a month ago, and he makes custom coilovers for our cars. He had a AW11 back in the day, and I didn't even know what he got into after high school till now. He owns a company named AMR, and he offers a lifetime warranty on his coilovers. He is going to make me a custom set for my AW11, and he told me if I knew anyone else that would be interested to let him know. I don't know many AW11 guys, so I thought I would find a forum since I should belong to one anyway haha. He doesn't mass produce these, nor is the toyota MR2 market his market. But since he was a old AW11 guy, he made himself a set. So he's going to make me a set, and if you guys are want he would machine a few more sets for anyone interested. I'm going for more of a street setup, but he told me he can valve them for any spring rate or anyones desired needs. Since he doesn't really plan on making a ton of these, he is going to make them for pretty damn good price. He's just happy to make them again. I don't want to step on anyones toes if this post doesn't belong here, so I won't post a price here. But I thought I would give you guys the heads up if anyone was looking for coilovers for their AW11. You can PM me if you want. If you guys know any other options, please post up. But I will most likely have him make the set cause I like the warranty and I was basically drooling over his products.

Are these a true coilover shock, or are they coilover sliders? What type of piston does he run? are they gas charged? How much does he want?
Many more details please !!! |

Sorry guys, I sometimes work graveyard during the week. But glad to see there were a few post. I'm still getting my money together myself to have him do this for me. I don't want to disrespect anyone on the board since my ass is a newb. So PM me for a price.
haha being a old VW guy, I would not put sliders on my car. These are true coilovers. I just hate those cheaper slider coilover units that seem to flood the import market. That's another rant Let's see features, I believe they are 8 way adjustable. They are rebound adjustable only. You gotta forgive me, when I ran into him I was a lil tipsy haha, I ran into him at a old high school friends going away party. They are made just like his current coilovers. They have all the stock provisions for our lines, and etc. They are height and preload adjustable. This was important to me, since I was running KW's in the past, they had a fixed length adjustability. So I wanted to make sure that the lower mount was adjustable, which it is. They are a high pressure nitrogen charged monotube damper which is rebuildable like the bilsten, and many other high end dampers on the market. Well basically they are a 100 percent stock replacement. It's all 1 unit, everything from the top mount, to the bottom mount. So the install will be rather straight forward. As I said before, this is not his market, but he is a huge AW11 fan. So he is willing to hook me up, as well as a few people as well. Since he is going to be doing the machining over the weekend for me, he said he wouldn't mind machining a few other cylinders, and the misc. parts he needs to assemble a few more units. He loves what he does and I totally got that from him, so I believe he just wants a few more AW11 guys to roll his stuff, even though he has no interest in really marketing them. I won't have much time to post this week due to my work schedule, but feel free to pm me if you want to join. Thanks for the interest guys. I should have my money together in the next 3-4 weeks. I spoke to him, and they are 8 way adjusatable. I have listed all the features it has. I'm getting the coilovers for less than 800 bucks. I am guessing shipping is anywhere from 40-50 bucks depending on where you live. I'm going to buy them in about 3-4 weeks, so when I buy mine, if anyone is interested in having a set made with mine, let me know. I'll let my friend know that I've got a few other people interested so he can get the materials together to make enough for everyone. He said if I do happen to get some extra people he would need to talk to everyone over the phone to discuss what their needs are. So then he can assemble and make a setup that will fit your needs. Remember, he is just plannin on making a set for me. I'm just doing this since I know we don't have a lot of options for our cars, and this would be a great opportunity to get a coilover with a great warranty as well as a set for a awesome price. So if your seriously interested, PM ME. I don't have a picture of them, since it's been awhils since he made them. I think I mentioned that before he was a old AW11 guy. Anyways, I do have pictures of his other coilovers. As I said, if your interested PM me. This is more of a FYI post, not a sale post. So if your serious, pm me, and I'll get you all the info so you can make your decision if you want to join me, if not I'm going to rock some awesome coilovers by myself haha. Hope everyone has a good one, I gotta get to bed.

Well looks like we only got a few people interested. I forwarded your info to my friend and he will be giving you guys a call shortly. He is going to order the materials to make my coilovers as well as a few others for this limited run he chose to do for me. Thanks again to those who pm'd me, and joined in. I knew I would not be the only one that would jump in on this. I'll post some pictures once my setup is done. Here are a few pictures of some of the coilovers they made. My setup is going to look just as sick. Have a good weekend everyone. I gotta work all weekend. DOH!!

This is definately happening. Sorry guys, I've been workin some crazy weird hours and have not had much internet time. I am placing my order next week, and I have forwarded all info to my pal. He said he will call everyone that provided their info and he told me he has lined up the material to make everyone a set that pm'd me. So no worries, everything is going great and I am getting my cash next week
