Eibach springs front?
Here's the pics with the car on floor--Most of the coils are up...I did search and read other people issue with the driver side clunking when hitting pot or bumps I have after yesterday's installement. Notice I pulled the bump stop down to see if I needed it to cut it.. Eibach + Tokico Blue
![]() ![]() So far I found this from another aw11 owner..upside down ![]() The car drives great and corners good on street, but I've been concerned about installing the front spring upside down as the Eibach logo is right side up right now, but the rear has to have the logo upside down(Obviously compared with the OEM rear springs.) When I put the Eibach's on 6 years ago I don't remember them being able to fit more than one way.
I'd call Eibach. Good luck |

Glad I found this...
I just started noticing this noise a lot more after I changed my front sway bar bushings, which work great by the way. It's the one on the driver side. So what makes that noise? I can only hear it when I tried pushing the car down. I checked everything down there and nothing is lose as far as bolts and stuff. I saw my coils exactly the same as yours when I took a look at both sides and yes, these springs only go one way from what I remember. I should note that I had them for a few years now and just started hearing that clunking noise when I hit bad pavement. Have you found any solutions or what's causing this? Thanks.

Signed up on this forum a couple days ago. Time to make my first post.
I just installed front Tockico Illuminas, ST front Springs, New shock mounts, and strut boots yesterday. Test drove my MR2 today, noticed some clunking on the passenger side. I'm planning to change the rears too eventually, so I'm hoping that's where the clunking noise is. Just not sure yet, maybe I'll have a friend ride to get their observation. I put new boot kits on both sides but didn't cut the bump stops, they seemed short enough. You can buy them from Pep Boys $15.99 plus tax. Here's both the old FL & FR bump stops ![]() Here's one of the new kits ![]() And here during FR strut reinstall ![]() Also, I expected both sides to be more even in height but the Left is really low compared to the right, I got tire rub on the freeway when I hit some bad pavement. Seems like 1" tire clearance from the fender edge on the Left but 2" tire clearance on the right. |

Iirc, springs (including Eibach) can only be installed one way on these cars since one end of the coils is flat and the other pokes out a bit, designed to slot into the strut housing, holding the assembly still.
