'85 brakes/bearings?
Not sure if this is the correct section for this, but it's my best guess.
Just got my '85 back home to Maine, where we've got maine state inspection stickers! as expected, she fails. The rear driver side disc doesnt appear to be even getting any contact from the pads, its showing rust already. I'm guessing it may be a ceased caliper, but I'm curious how big of a pain the rear brakes are to work on- I've never done rear disc brakes before, and she will need pads all around. My biggest concearn is the front wheels- they tell me theres play, and lots of it. Driver side is bad, passenger isn't great. How big of a job is it to change the bearings on this car? They said it could also be a tie rod, but I dont know squat about this stuff, and I've yet to even jack her up myself, outside of putting the current wheels on. I've got about 2 weeks to get her up and on the road, but I work alot so it may wind up being delayed... anyway she needs a ton of non-sticker work, but until I get the sticker I cant drive her at all, which makes me sad. Can anyone shed a little light on the rear brakes and front bearings? |
