Quaife steering rack

I found this rack on craigs list and I'm wondering if it's worth the money. I personally dont think it is but if it is I might as wel pick it up. Anyone have any experience with it?

Great mod from what I have read, but thats over DOUBLE the price of retail.

Get a new one from the group buy on Club4AG Club4AG Forum Topics: P.A.S.S ----- Quaife steering rack Gourp Buy 2 right now through PASSRACING.COM ...$298 shipped. You can buy them direct from Quaife UK too from what I have read.

I ordered one from the group buy. And they just arrived to USA and going through customs. They still have TWO slots available to buy one if you are interested... go to the forum and post, or call Simon direct Project Race Car at PASSRACING and tell him you want an AW11 QSR rack.

Everyone that has one loves it.... the only gotcha is that turning the wheels takes a bit more effort at stop or very low speeds. At high speeds or normal driving, its just a flick of your wrist to change lanes.

I got it installed about 2 mths ago...

never regretted doing this, as i finally get the amazingly sharp steering response i've been looking for which never could be achieved with the stock steering rack.

after installation and alignment, just point and shoot!

Just sent the guy an email. I'm hoping he'll come down and meet that group buy price atleast. I wouldnt mind paying $300 for it and have it right now and not have to wait for shipping. It would be for my $1500 swap car. More power+better steering that would be good. Thanks for that link. I'll let you know if I do end up getting it.

Looks like I'll be getting this thing. I'm gonna give him 300 for it since it's brand new. He seems like a cool person so far so we'll see. How hard are these to install? I havent messed with the steering on these cars so I'm not sure how to go about doing it. I also might be trading my 20v swap for an ae86 and I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is compatible. I'm going to do some research on this now but any tips are appreciated. Thanks everyone for the help.

There is an AE86 version which has a shorter pinion. I know AE86 is compatible with the AW11 but I dont know about going backwards putting the longer pinion AW11 version on an AE86..

Are you sure you are getting the AW11 version of this rack? The AE86 version is more plentiful, and its possible you are actually getting that version.

Does he know the model number? Or the length of the pinion? If the shaft is about double the length of the pinion gears, its the AE86 version, if its over double (almost triple the length) then its the AW11 version.

You might research the backwards compatibility of the AW11 version to the AE86 application if you are going AE86 later.

There are some install threads and discussion around it from previous group buys on MR2OC.COM if you dont find info anywhere else.
