July 4th Meet Statistics - by Mitch
Total of MKI's, MKII's, and MKIII's: 31
Of those, two V6's, one is SC'd, two (three?) MKI SC's, numerous MKII Turbo's and N/A's One RX-8 One Mustang One WRX One Miata One Cadillac Escalade Behemoth One Supra Turbo One Lotus Elise (wow!) (For colors, I will ask Eric to please fill in with his knowledge.) Total number of people, about 50 (best head count we could do). The "Low Mileage Awards" go to Eric and Corey, with about 42k and 58k miles, respectively. The "Highest Torque At 1500 RPM Award" goes to Mike's Supercharged V6. The "I Drove the Biggest Vehicle Award" goes to Chris (cabe) for bringing the Escalade. Even though it was not an MR2, it was First Class. (Almost as nice as my Lexus. ) The "I Can Piss Off Your Neighbors Award" goes to Corey, for "nearly killing" some kid on a bike that shouldn't have been riding in the road anyway. The "I Am Truly a Gifted Peace Maker Award" goes to Jim Krug, for de-fusing some angry, foul-mouthed rednecks. (Definition of a Diplomat- someone that can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you will be looking forward to the trip.) The "I Am Truly A Diehard MR2 Fanatic Award" goes to Mindy for showing up deathly ill (with a fever) to an MR2 meet and never crying "uncle". The "I Can Hold Your Attention Award" goes to Harry for sharing some of his wealth of knowledge with other folks in a round-circle discussion in the garage. The "Don't Mind Me I'm Not Truly Bored Award" goes to Patti, who sat for quite some time playing with the Blackberry's GPS and anything else it did that kept her amused. The "I Can Hug You Harder Than You Can Hug Me Award" goes to PJ (Eric's wife). (Dang Baby, come back soon.) The "I'm So Cool I'll Just Park Here in the Middle of the Cul de Sac Award" goes to Brian Hill (Ncturnal). The "I Have a Head in a Plastic Bag in My Trunk Award" goes to Brian Mattison (Toyotafan). The "I Can Service More MR2 A/C's in One Day Than You Can Award" goes to Yours Truly for charging up five systems in under two hours. The "Tallest MR2 Driver Award", at 6'4", goes to Andrew. I may have missed some awards; if I think of them, I'll post them. Eric cooked 56 Hamburgers, 32 hot dogs, and 8 (I think) sausages. Folks drank 35 bottles of water, a "few" beers, about 20 Green Tea's, a bunch of Smirnoff fruit coolers, and lots of Coke, Sprite, Root Beer, and whatever else we had, including drinks that they brought themselves (including a frunk full of diet sodas). By best count, 2,136 mosquitoes and flying bugs were killed, mostly by Patrick, with my Harbor Freight-five-dollar-special, Electronic Fly Swatter. Thanks to all that contributed to offset the cost of the food and drinks; thanks to our Master Grill Chef, Eric Gardner, for doing a splendid job on burgers, dogs, and sausages, and to his lovely wife and Patrick and Heather for supporting him during his hot flashes. Thanks to my Co-hosts, Corey and Wendy, for providing almost all of the food, and all of their help in setup and cleanup, and thanks to my dear wife, Thea, for cooking, cleaning, and decorating until 4:00 AM Monday morning. Also, thanks to many of you that drove so far to get here for a crazy little car meet! As for me, I'm sun burned and need to go put on lotion.......
